Question about Philips Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Time resets We have 2 of these in 2 different rooms and record daily. We're starting to miss programs due to the date and times mysteriously resetting. We'll go to change the disc only to find it empty and the unit's time saying that it is yesterday, or 3 days ago, or 12 hours ago. We'll reset day and time and then, blam, find it happened again. It's happening more frequently now. And no, it's not power outages, nothing else is affected.

Re: time resets

MAGNAVOX DVD RECORDER MODEL # MWR10D6: Is a piece of junk. Yet another worthless waste material and rescources. In other words they or someone else could have taken the materials and energy used to assymble this thing and used it for some other appliance or device that would actually work. This thing is so worthless that it was environmentally irresponsible for the manufactures to even make it. Now all it's good for is filling landfills.

My suggestion is to do as I am right now and go onto any and every forum, or message board you know about and warn as many people as you can away from this piece of junk and the SCAM that is being perpatrated by Magnavox and whoever else helped them cook up this scam.

I've even made space for a photo of it and description of how sorry it works on both my and pages.

Logik recorder - error message - cannot schedule recording, there is already a timer at the same time on this channel. turned the box off at the wall & retuned. Any suggestions? Thank you. x

check programmed recordings you will have a clash possibly in time and date on another channel. If the dvd records two channels at once normally check if it has two channels already set up at the same time to record i the scheduled recordings.
you may have two different channel positions that are the same tv station and have set up two different channels to record the same show. and then you may be trying to record another different channel at the same time. check and delete extra channel schedule.

Another way to have this is as an example say programmed record at channel nine f0r show 1 at 7:30 to 8.35 day xyz and then you set up show 2 to record at channel nine say from 8:30 to xyz this will use two time frames during the overlap from 8:30 to 8:35 on day xyz and if you decide to record a third show you can't between the overlap time frame

The “Timer” Indicator lights up on DECK.
• You can do Timer Recording with the power on or off.
• “TIMER REC WILL START SOON” appears on-screen for 2 minutes
before Timer Recording starts. If DECK is in DVD mode, no message
appears, but the VCR REC Indicator, the VCR mode indicator and
“REC” will flash on Multi function Display.

Hope this helps!

Does menu contain option to filter out advertisements?check the entire option you need to input date and time or is it set you have PDQ on menu as this may be altering the start /finish point? Have you upgraded firmware? Have you tried searching online forums for that make and model to see if anyone else has reported the same problem?Warranty?

RCA model DRC8335 Loosing the date and time

That will be a problem from the text side of the broadcast, the clock is set from the text transmission, ( in other words a problem from the transmitter ) possibly due to digital switchover or work on the transmitters. One possible solution would be to turn off auto clock setting, and/or auto summer time adjustment.

Timer Recording

To schedule a weekly or Mon-Fri program on the DVD scroll back in the "date" box (instead of forward to a future date. You will have options for once a week or Mon-Fri.

Hi, Have just purchased Samsung DVD HDD recorder (DVD-SH855). Everything works great except the timer recording. When i schedule a recording, the system wont start recording. The recording light flashes...

I had the same issue. It turns out that the recorder has to be switched off otherwise it won't record. The unit will power itself on at the scheduled time and record your program. It doesn't make any sense to me why this would be a requirement but it solved the problem for me.

i have uploaded the user manual for this model, it should be visible within the next 24 hours. the quick version is this:

if you haven't done so yet, set the clock
menu/ use up/down arrows to select "clock set", press right arrow to select, set day, year, etc using up and down arrows, when each is set, the right arrow moves you to the next bit

once clock is set

timer recording
use up and down arrows to scroll to timer recording, and press the right arrow to select
set the program number (1-8)
set frequency (once, daily, weekly)
set the date to record
set start time (i usually go 5 mins prior)
set end time (i usually go 5 mins after)
set channel number
set tape speed
exit by pressing clear/c reset
press t-set to activate the timer

the timer rec light should come on, the timer recording will not be active unless you press the t-set button

hope this helps
