Question about Rinnai Vent Free Gas Heater/: 6,000 BTU RCE-229A

Rinnai rce-606tra II -- temperature is wrong

The temperature measured by my Rinnai unit is 10 degrees low -- it show 50 degrees when it is 60 degrees. I could simply adjust the thermostat setting by 10 degrees, except the lowest setting is 60 degrees (which keeps the room at 70 degrees). Is there a way to correct the temperature measurement?

Rinnai gas heater model RCE-318H piezzo keeps trying to light unsuccessfully times out after about 30 secs.then pilot light led stays lit up. any ideas.?

Real odd one as if ignition fails this unit is designed to flash various lights to give you an idea of what the fault is. Also this usually happens after about 10-15 seconds. I'm going to have to ask you to clarify that no other lights flash. If I had this fault exactly as you descibe, after running some basic tests to check gas supply and any obvious damage or burnt out components I would change the the main PCB as a start and the control PCB as a plan B.

The sensor for these is inside at the rear near the filter. Choices are really limited to just turn it on and off when you want heat or spend the money on getting it to an agent. If you have never had it serviced I would reccomend getting this done. Maybe whilst it's being cleaned out you can get some adice on got of part replacment. Likely to be either the sensor or the control board itself (ouch on the latter)

Error code 12

Error code 12 is a genaric "Flame Failure" code. I suspect that the flame is not hitting the flame sensor or that the sensor is bad. You will need to get to the sensor located on the far left hand side of the unit. If you have the owners manual, it's part #123. Remove it and clean it off. Make sure it is placed back in the heater properly aligned and all the way in. Then try and light it. If it does not stay lit, it may need to be replaced but check out the burner tray for debris not allowing the flame to travel all the way to the sensor. You will have to remove many parts to get to the burner assembly.
