I already pulled and re-seated the memory last night to no avail. In addition, I tried multiple times to reload off of the Recovery CD and here is what happened.

Installing from Everex Recovery Disk [RDVD Recovery for Vista V2.0 Build 20061220

Are there any TechAid Diagnostic Testing tools that can be downloaded as an .ISO file to test the mobo and other hardware?

If you hadn't experienced any errors with Vista Home Basic, format again and try to install again.

Those errors sound like hardware issues, tho. So, I'd also suggest to re-seat (remove and reinsert) your memory modules. It also sounds like a hard drive issue, so run your system's hardware diagnostics, if the above doesn't work.

Hope this helps.

this sounds like a hardware issue, i suspect the harddrive. Try formating it and running diagnostics form a hDD external enclosure. Run a full scan disk and then format it form there before initializing it and back to the laptop for full installation of Vista

Thecrow_3@hotmail.comis there a difference between vista ultimate and vista home edition as I did find the code but it didn't work

Yes. Vista Home Edition has less features than Ultimate. Also, it will not run on a different code- nor will Microsoft provide you with one if you have the other

Windows Vista business & Home Basic

No you can't downgrade once Vista business is installed, what i do recommend you do is when Vista business asks you for the product key, if you input "your" key for home basic it should theoretically install home basic for you as most of the install DVD's are multi installers (basic, premium, business and ultimate)

See if that helps you.

Upgrade to vista ultimate

If you have a full version of Windows Vista Ultimate, you can just insert the DVD when you logged in your laptop and go to Computer(My Computer) and lauch the installer for Windows on DVD icon (Double Click DVD icon). It will give you the main window for installing Windows and along the way, you should find an Upgrade option. Click that one and it will install windows Ultimate on your system. It Will not format the laptop but installer will just add system files and features to the laptop to run Vista Ultimate.

**If you haven't purhcase a Windows Vista Ultimate Disc, check this link to to purchase just an upgrade Disc (only) of Vista Ultimate.

An upgrade disc will also not format the laptop instead it will just install additional features and add additional files on the system to run Windows Vista Ultimate
