CS-40503 takes about 10 minutes for the picture to appear once the set is turned on (sound comes on immediately)....when the picture does appear, it's dim for approx. 5 seconds then comes up to full brightness.....If the set was on previously and you turn it off, then back on its fine (no wait)...is this a relatively easy prob. to fix?
IF THIS SET HAS PIP (PICTURE IN PICTURE) THAN I'D SAY THE PIP MODULE IS GOING BAD. YOU CAN REPLACE IT OR GET THE BYPASS PLUG FOR IT. IT JUST PLUGS IN. I feel your pain. I understand there is legislation pending that will force the broadcasters to stop that ****. In case you have been misinformed that is NOT a problem with your tv. It's an issue with the broadcaster.
internal codes are good, but when the is like what you post then a tech is what you need.it seems that one of the problem is the flyback transformer or the CRT cap.have a tech check you unit.
Sounds like there is a lot of dust on the crt, itself. This will cause a high voltage "snap" which I think you are hearing. This sometimes happens when there has been a spill of water or other liquid that has run or dripped down on the crt. Usually is not a problem if you turn the power off, unplug the cord from the wall outlet, take off the cover, let it set for a while( just to make sure the Hi voltage has drained off), disconnect and ground the hi voltage lead to assure drain down, then clean the dust off of the crt. Follow the dust off with a damp rag and wipe off all of the remaining dust that you can. Let things dry for a half hour or so. Reassemble and see how it works. I have had several $10 tv's that this process has worked well on. Each one lasted several years at least. Ron-
There is no external reset, and if the set is completely dead (not even a click when the power button is pressed) then there is probably an open main fuse or defective stand-by power supply. If the main fuse is blown then there is usually a heavy short in the main power supply, and either way the set should be looked at by someone with experience in Mitsubishi sets.
