Connection to Rolleiflex SL2000F SLR

I checked out a SL2000F that had good pictures on eBay. I see a standard hot shoe on the side of the camera. That being said, neither a standard shoe connection nor a pc outlet will give you TTL on the Metz. TTL is Transistor to transistor logic (or for camera store people, through the lens) A sensor that reads the light from the actual plane of the shutter is required to allow the Metz to give TTL operation. It will work on the Auto setting, but the Rollei does not have the sensor as described.

It looks like the image on my lcd is stretched vertically . It wont take pics correctly

This sounds like a common fault which usually means the camera is effectively irreparable: the sensor has failed.

To confirm it, you'll need to check whether photos taken before the fault occurred appear stretched as well. If not, then it's definitely the sensor and as the camera is about four to five years old now the repairs will not be cost effective. If old photos also display with the problem, then it's probably just a faulty lcd screen and they can be replaced but it still may be touch and go as to whether it's cost effective. Either way, although the camera is out of warranty I'd recommend that you contact Canon to see if they'll offer a goodwill repair as it shouldn't really have failed that soon, but at the time it was a relatively low cost model so don't get your hopes up.

Faulty sensors are very common when cameras get to around five or six years old, but some just fail sooner than others and if you live in a warm climate region the the failure can occur sooner. Even if the sensor doesn't fail most digital cameras seem to suffer one or more other faults by the time they're around six years old: they simply don't last as long as many film cameras.

LCD screen will not display picture to be taken in camera mode.Screen is black with some white horizonal lines.

See this link. The symptoms you describe indicate that the image sensor (CCD) has failed. Canon will repair this at no cost, regardless of warranty status. Contact them as shown if you are in the US. Contact your regional Canon service facility if not.

Won't take pictures.

The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor that is behind the lens cover door on the front of the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $83 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

No pictures

This is a CCD sensor ( see enclosed pic of one taken out of Canon camera from my workshop ) problem and this is why you will be able to play back pics that were captured properly but cannot capture new ones : the CCD sensor is not outputting anything at all.
Not all bad news because Nikon replaces these free of charge so contact your agent ( if you have this done by independent repair outfit it may be uneconomical to repair on this entry level model ).4e7add3.jpg
