I bought a new battery and because it is not a Sony, I get a caution that the battery is not installed correctly or is incompatible. I can't 'x' out or ignore the message and it causes the laptop to go into hibernation. Is there anyway around this?

  • pfowler Dec 10, 2009

    I bought this one on-line from LaptopBatteryStore.com.
It is SUPPOSED to be compatable. I bought the used laptop for a Christmas gift for my daughter. I got laid off 10 months ago and times are tough right now.
All the specs on the new battery match the one that is bad.

  • pfowler Dec 11, 2009

The problem was a setting on the laptop.
Sony had a utility installed that makes it not compatable with an off-brand battery.
I unchecked a box in the MSconfig box and it works fine now!

Don't continue to use it, it might damage your computer, if you can't find a branded sony battery pack at least buy a compatible one for your computer, ask assistance from computer store attendants before buying a battery pack, better to bring you notebook when purchasing one to be sure and have it tested before paying for it.

Try using another power adapter and let's see what happens. Also cross check the way you fixed the new battery. Try powering you laptop without the battery fixed.

But if symptoms still persist, I would advice you look for the correct battery for your Laptop, because if you don't, something might get damaged on you system and probably from the power part.

Systems are very sensitive and you can't force them to do what they don't want.

Therefore the best thing to do is to get the a Sony battery.

Best wishes

I think you have to return the battery. Being a brand new and from LaptopBatteryStore.com does not mean the battery must be good. Consider the fact that there might be a factory error. When batteries are not used for a long time, the cells get weak and its sometimes hard for it to regain cell back to normal. You can't tell how long the battery has stayed in the store.

Maybe you should use the laptop without the battery pending the time you replace the battery.

    Take care.

Why does my radio fuse keep popping in my 1992 bmw 735i?

Do you have the correct size fuse as listed in the manual or on the fuse cover? If so do you have an after market alarm system? Many times the after market installers will use a wire that they know is hot. often an always on radio memory wire? If you bought the car new and did not install an alarm or change out the radio out then you may need to bring it into a shop that traces wires. if you bought it used and you have the correct size fuse there is no telling. Caution do not in cress the size of the fuse beyond the recommended size or you could have a fire.

Packard bell easynote M5284 - black screen after installing new RAM

Sounds like the memory is incompatible with the laptop. Remove the memory and install orginal memory and boot again to see if every works correctly.. If so then either a memory module is bad or motherboard wont support the new memory (size or type)

Dear Sir, Recently acquired SONY HDR-PJ30. Bought extra np-fv100 battery for it. Doesn't function on PJ30!! Surprising is that it works fine on the HDR-SR5 that I gave to my youngest daughter. She...

Sry Sir, But unfortunately your device does not seem to support the battery pack although Sony sells them as an upgrade for your unit. Click HERE to see the three most common Sony replacement batteries for that device. Looking closely, i believe you may have a unit the is not throwing you the correct amount of power. Apply a voltmeter in DC to the two battery terminals and you should get 8.4 volts. If your reading is any more than .4volts difference contact Sony as you battery has malfunctioned. If it tests good, still call them and let them know that your handheld is not accepting it......They are designed to be compatible and Sony is VERY GOOD at replacing or repairing devices that aren't performing to their standards.
GOOD LUCK AND PLEASE RATE THIS POST!!!!

Sony Vaio aftermarket battery

i have the same problem with the aftermarket battery. my sony is VGN-S48GP which i have for 3 years.

there are a few posting about this on the web on how to solve them. some people are successful and some are not.

there is a .exe file call ISBmgr.exe which is contained in the start up sequence of windows XP, when the XP is installed with factory disk from sony. this programs checks the battery and does not allow non-sony battery to work with the notebook. i ask XP not to load this program and now i can use the battery.

THIS IS HOW:-
go to Run
type MSConfig
look for startup tap
find ISBmgr.exe
disable it
reboot

i like this method because the action is reversable. there are other posts on the web which ask you to delete the ISBmgr file. i did not choose that way.

Good Luck.

ecj
