Question about HP Compaq Presario V6000T Notebook

3 Answers

I have a presario v6000, and when I turn it on it keeps going to the screen that says safe mode, start normally, last known good configuration. This page keeps repeating itself. How can I get to the log in page and turn that repeat off.

It will not let me go to any other screen but that one. I did shut it down and turned it back on, but it keep repeating that screen. Initially that probably was the problem, but how do I get it off of that screen? Can you give me instructions step by step please? Thank you.

I cannot get if off of that screen, so how do I proceed? Should I try to burn a dsc off of that site you recommended with my PC? I am lost, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Can I download a restore disc from that site?

  • Darryl TayBorn Dec 14, 2009

I cannot find but one disk, and that is for my dvd. Will you please send me a copy of the recovery disc or tell me where I might be able to download it? My address is dtayborn@yahoo.com or darryl.tayborn@saferfoundation.org if you can send it to both it would truly be appreciated. Thank you.

If the sytem restore went futile? try to run the recovery cd of your laptop and this will repair all damaged registry files. And if these 2 option cannot solve your problem there is no other way except to reformat your computer. Backup first all your important files in a CD or external hard drive.

Those messages came up because you did not shut down your system properly or maybe there is a problem with your operating system.

If problem still persists even after you shut down properly, then I would advice that you do a system restore on your laptop.

When you carry out the system restore, your laptop functions would be normal and you would not see those messages that showed initially.

To do system restore, click start menu, click all programs, look out for Recovery and Backup Manager, click it and follow instructions carefully. Before you carry out this action, make sure you backup all your files as the system restore will wipe them off.

After the system restore is done, please make sure you shut down your system properly so that what happened at first would not repeat itself again.

Best wishes.

Ok, Shut down your system and put it on again. On first black screen that shows when you turn on your system, look down wards you will see "Press F11" for recovery manager, if not F11, maybe F10 or something, but usually it use to be F11 for Hp and Compaq laptops. Press the F11 and your Recovery Manager, will start automatically.

Or maybe you don't have to read the instructions before you press F11 because, the first black screen that displays your product name does not stay long before it moves to the next page. So you might just press F11 immediately you turn on your system.

I believe this will help you carry out the Recovery Manager.

    Take care.

Maybe your laptop did not come with a recovery disk inside, but it should come with an Operating System CD.

If you don't have it, then maybe you should look for a friend of yours that uses the same laptop with you. Get an empty Cd and burn it. Then you can use the CD to do the system recovery.

This same thing happened to me, I deleted my recovery disk mistakenly, I had to look wait until I came across someone that uses the same system with me.

Except you look for exact operating system for your laptop, any other one you use will be a counter fit software and you might not enjoy its performance.

So just be patient and look around, you will surely find an operating system.

    Take care.

Hi ,you should only get that if you're not shutting down , does the laptop turn off when shutting down ?

The other thing is when starting up, it has a problem talking to a device driver therefore putting itself in safe mode,

goto the following to update the drivers etc.

My Comoaq presario SR5605F has a black screen with the cursor intact. It happened right after I did a system restore. Can u give me a solution ?

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

PLS REPLY OR COMMENT. THANKS

By enforcing the option to return BACK TO THE LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION you have nothing to lose. Respond if you have already selected that option with no success?

When i turn it my eee pc on it pops up to where it says windows and thats as far as it will but it will only load up in safe mode

Try restarting your notebook and hit the "f8" key after you see the first screen come up. Keep hitting the F8 key until you see a menu that says "start in safe mode" start in safe mode with networking......
Start in last known good configuration....Start windows normally.

Try using Start in last known good configuration.

Hopefully, that will solve the problem that is hanging up your windows from starting.

Unit wont start, gray screen then goes to a screen with options on how to start unit and then goes blank

Answer:To load the last known good configuration in Windows 2000 / XP reboot the computer and as it's booting booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Last Known Good Configuration" and press your Enter key.
Trouble Getting into Windows 2000 or Advanced Options menu - If after several attempts you are unable to get into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Safe Mode as the computer is booting into Windows turn off your computer. When the computer is turned on the next time Windows should notice that the computer did not successfully boot and give you the Safe Mode screen.
Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message as the computer is booting. If this occurs instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key" tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode
Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
As can be seen from the above example, you should be able to highlight and press enter to load the last known good configuration. Once completed the computer should restart and attempt to load into Windows.
Will running the Last Known Good Configuration delete anything?
No, running the last known good configuration will restore your last good system settings and will not delete anything. The only thing you may have to reinstall programs you have recently installed because the configuration for those programs may have been lost.

Windows xp will not load on my computer....

It could be your hard drive problem. Which I called it, "Crash." I would suggest you try to format the hard drive and reload the operation system with your installation CD.

what you are describing is the blue screen of death, meaning theres a hardware or software problem, try to boot into safe mode and perform a system restore, if that doesn't work use your XP cd, let it load the drivers and the ask it to fix the existing XP installation, anything that you have saved in my documents should be safe and the problem should be solved. If the blue screen reappears then you have a hardware problem
