Question about Samsung HLP5085W 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Samsung HLP5674W DLP television shuts off after a few minutes

I have a Samsung HLP5674W DLP television. After operating for a few minutes, the tv shuts off, and all three lights on the front panel flash.
After checking the flash code, I checked the sensor (trip switch) on the lamp cover. I made sure the switch was fully tripped but this made no difference.
I then bypassed the switch, completing the circuit and still no difference.
I don't know what to try next.

Make sure the color wheel is ok. If it is, replace lamp and ballast.

Tv timer shuts off

If the TV gets very hot it maybe shutting down on its own accord however there should be a way to navigate to the sleep menu through the buttons on the front of the set.

Keeps switching itself off and on???

Provided that your lamp is not reaching the end of its life, there have been some issues with the lamp door switch opening due to thermal expansion of the plastic. I would bypass the two wire switch altogether to eliminate this possibility, it won't affect the operation of the TV. If the set still shuts down, and there is no on screen display mentioning a fan failure, replace the lamp. Part number is listed on the lower left side of the TV with red label.

The top left speaker in my samsun HL-P5685W DLP TV has blown, I need to find the specification for the speaker in order to be able to order it

I have not been able to get a part number from my normal suppliers as it is not listed. I would suggest that you call Encompass parts directly at 866.779.7421. They should be able to provide you with the part number and cost.

Tv shuts off and on by itself dlp 5064 tv only seems to do it when the tv is on for a long period also when the power is on the standby/lamp is illuminated

Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. I

Yup definitely sounds like the ballast, if not then you have a problem in the power supply. Probably some bad capacitors. Call a local tv repair shop.

My screen has white dots all over the screen..they started out with just a few but over time they seem to have spread. Any idea if this is fixable? The television is only 3 yrs old.

Usually, the white dots (they should look more like small squares) indicates that the DLP chip is failing and needs to be replaced. It's located on the DMD board and is very expensive to replace. If you have an extended warranty, call and get them out to check.
