Lexmark JetPrinter X1185 All-In-One InkJet

Re-detecting hardware looping (by 5 users)

By pawa - usenet poster

Hi,
I have installed a Lexmark X1185 all-in-one printer.
And, Win XP PRO keeps re-detecting, as a new hardware install.
This was installed correctly.
Then the the popup says "can not install this hardware".
Click "OK". Several seconds later, this starts all over again.
I have unplugged the USB cable, to prevent re-detecting.
I've looked at several websites dealing with XP PRO
problems.
None show this type of problem.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
I have the same problem.

Hi Dev,
Found something interesting:this was a hard drive problem.
Got out my other computer with XP PRO. Installed with no problem. So, swapped
hard drives.
Had to re-install XP PRO.That's OK.
The printer installed without no problems or re-detecting.
Just might have been a bad spot on the drive, causing no registration, and
the looping.
Hope this has helped others.
Thanks again.
