Error message of "Unable to detect fingerprint device"

Dear Madam/Sir:
I just purchased an Acer Travelmate 6292 laptop from PC Connection on December 2, 2009. However, when I tried to enroll my fingerprint following the laptop's system wizard, it gave me an error message of "Unable to detect fingerprint device". Yesterday, I talked to two technicians from Acer Technical Support section and they asked me to download the driver from Acer website:www.support.acer.com. I did what they told me and uninstalled the old version, reinstalled the new version from Acer download site. Unfortunately, it still didn't work and gave me the same error message when I clicked a blinked finger.
I'm thinking that I have figured out the problem because when I checked Device Manager, I didn't find a fingerprint sensor device. Can you let me know how to install the fingerprint sensor device in my laptop? Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Huaide Ye

Go to control panel from start menu, then click icon "add hardware".
Follow the instructions, click yes when asked about device is connected, then choose something like"human interface device", keep following the procedure until you find the hardware that match with windows.

Hope it works!!!

Take it back to where you bought it or contact the manufacturer. I bought a laptop for my boys that was supposed to be new but it was used. The fingerprint function was devoted to the PREVIOUS owner's finger print.

Error Message PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. what does this mean?

That means your hard disk is not being detected. PXE is a network boot, which is typically used in business environments. Check your BIOS settings and ensure your hard disk is being detected. If it is, make sure your boot order is set correctly. Network boot (PXE) should be set to the last item in the sequence. If the hard disk is properly being detected and an OS is present, you should never see PXE.

If your hard disk is not showing up, power your PC down (unplug the power) and check the cables to make sure they are seated.

I have an acer travelmate 7730g. I turned off the fingerprint securlty and am now presented with a password request before anything boots up. The thing is I don't remember ever setting this password...

I ran into the same issue with a bios password The laptop is a newer Acer TravelMate and I was able to remove the password. Remove the hardrive first. Then remove the memory and unplug the black and red wires from the battery about 2 inches away wait a then plug it back in. With the harddrive out still I turned the computer back on and then back off, put the harddrive back in.

You will end up clearing the bios settings including the fingerprint readers settings.
