Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDS01DLSS Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

When we run our dishwasher at the end of the cycle it does not finish. The clean light flashes seven times then repeats. Some of the dishes and glasses come out feeling slimy. We were told it was a drying element. But the element did get hot. What's up with it?

We have had two repair people out and told us this. The cycle keeps repeating. No one seems to want to go deeper into the machine. Any suggestions? Thanks

We are going to have to bring someone out to go further in depth on the problem.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, and then repeats. When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

All the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cycle finish (1-2 minutes). You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (i.e. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Dishwasher wont finish any cycles

That blinking light is trying to tell you that there is something wrong with the dishwasher. You need to fix the problem or else that blinking light will come back. And the number of times it blinks (before it pauses and repeats) will tell you (or a technician) what is wrong. How many times does it blink?

Dishes not cleaning after full cycle running

Your screens are plugged with food residue in the bottom of the unit. clean it out. You can use 1 gallon of white vinegar for your wash after you clean the screens. Start your washer to fill with water but after the water starts, open your door and pore all of the gallon in the unit. Let it now run for 4 minutes and stop it by opening the door. Leave the door slightly open for 1 hour. close the door and let the cycle continue for 4 more minutes. open the door and repeat it a couple of more times. Let it sit all night with the vinegar in it and in the morning - close the door and let the cycle continue to the end. This should help soften and clean out the food particles in the unit. You can repeat the process and get a better cleaning then too. All the scale should be off your dishes now.

Mold growing on dishes

Recommend that you run another cycle with no DW soap aded, waiting until the dishwasher has filled with hot water and begins to do the first wash cycle. Then add 1/2 cup of bleach to the water and close the door. Allow the cycle to finish. Run it normally with a standard load of dirty dishes. Note: These high efficiency dishwashers count on the "dirt" of the dirty dishes to help wash/clean the dishes. Recommend you not rinse/wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

Watch for any occurrence of the black dots and repeat the bleach treatment.

reset the dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal let it run through that cycle then through a normal cycle got the error blink again. Reset dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal, ran the test cycle, next ran a normal cycle but turned off the heated dry. This allowed the dishwasher to run through a complete cycle did not get the error blink and confirmed that the heating element was out.

There was a problem with the heating cycle , the seven flashes indicates the temp never reached the setting. You can try running a service cycle that will reset the control, then try running a normal cycle if it stops agin will have to find the part causing the trouble believe they actually came out with a revised heating element on this. to run service cycle press heated dry , normal, heated dry, normal within six sec then the d/w should step through a service cycle.
