Next you will see "SAME 01" presented on your screen, press SELECT and type in the S.A.M.E. code for your county (if you do not know the S.A.M.E. code for your county, go to this website- http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm, choose your state and find your county in the listings. Make sure your S.A.M.E code matches the frequency channel of your area as well.). When you are finish with that, press the MENU button four times to exit out.

This radio doesn't have the facility to be programmed for your local weather county code.

My Midland Weather Radio is alerting on central Florida Counties when I live on the nature coast (Citrus County). Do I have to prgram in my ZIP for it to know where I reside?

You have to program what is called a "SAME" code specific to your county. These weather radio SAME codes are available from the National Weather Service website. Look up your state, then your county - it will give you the 6 digit code for your country, AND what frequency if closest to you as well. You will want to delete the unused counties, which is the whole idea behind these radios - program ONLY the one or two counties CLOSEST to you. There is also a phone number for these codes. You can also email you local NWS office on their website for assistance. The 6 digit code made up of a 3 digit number for your state and the 3 digit number for your county, making it specific to your location. Let me know if you need more info. Regards.

Program county weather code

Sorry, but your radio does not have that feature, which is known as S.A.M.E. When set on ALERT your radio will receive all alert messages broadcast by the NOAA station that you are tuned to. The only fix, unfortunately, is to purchase a set that has the S.A.M.E. feature.
