Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Sometimes sound goes out but picture stays on.

Sometimes when I am watching tv or playing a game on PS3 the sound will go out from the tv but the picture remains. I shut the tv off then turn it back on to get the sound back. Any idea what is causing this?
This is a summary of what has happened with this tv so far.--

''I had a problem with my tv but it was fixed by one of your experts -welcomejee. It can be found under generic problem for all Flat Panel Televisions ''I have a Samsung lns469dx-xaa. Basically I had no picture but only sound and had to replace my T-con/LCD controller board.
After I did this I plugged in the HDMI cable and got great picture and noticed it would come and go and I had to play with the cable in the back until I finally got it right.
I went to the store to pick up a shock protector for the tv and cable box and when I came back the hdmi cable did not give me any signal. It said check signal cable or no signal. I checked both ports but still no luck.
I called the cable company and they troubleshooted over the phone with me but still to no help with getting a picture through the cable. So the cable company sent over a tech to see if it was the cable box or my hdmi cable. The tech said the box was fine so it must be my hdmi cable. I can watch tv through the audio/video cables but why do that if you can watch it through hdmi cables.
So on Friday I went and bought a new cable and tried it out. Still the same thing. In both ports it says check signal cable or no signal. Can someone please help me so I can finally fix this tv once and for all.''

The above issue in parentheses was resolved. Now I have the sound question and the question that follows this sentence.

On a final note get this. THe hdmi cable gives a signal for PS3 but not through my cable box. Can you please tell me why this is and can anything be done about it?

Thanks,
Erik

    To Ladywinn,

My apologies. My model number is the one with the 2 in it. Model # LNS4692DX-XAA. So you think that it might just be a loose connection involving the soldering? Your input would have been valid on the sound only going out when I was watching the tv through the cable box, but it also went out from time to time when I was playing a game on my PS3, meaning that it is not just the cable box it has something to do with the tv itself. The sound going out is rare but it does happen every so often. Just wanted to know if there was something I could do about it. Any further input you have on the matter would be greatly appreciated now that you have the correct model number.

    Thank you,
    Erik

Ps3 not wworking on regular TV after hdmi cable was used.

sounds like you have the ps3 set up in HD video display settings?

If this is the case hook it up to the regular tv and when you turn the power on continue to hold down the power button til it beeps this restores the video to default settings sometimes it takes a 2nd power down and power up holding it down to work.

If this doesnt solve please give more details

Tv goes blank for few seconds while playing games

Sounds Like the graphics chip is starting to go. Try CPR in NYC. They usually have a 1-3 day turnaround time, and are pretty cost effective. You can easily ship them your unit. They are faster and cheaper than Sony.

Hope it helps!

Bluray movie playes sound but no picture, HDCP problem?

In order to provide the proper solution to this, I need to know how this unit is connected to the TV. Also, when using the PS3 in game mode, do you get both picture and sound? What is the make and model of the TV involved here?

There are a number of reasons for the loss of picture. I will assume that you have selected the correct video input and video type. But for confirmation, please provide those details as well. Once you update this, I will try to give you an explanation and potential solutions.

Thanks,
Dan

HDMI-can't get tv to stay 1080i

This is natural, the PS3 does not stretch the signal like the Xbox does so games play at there native resolution (720p) there is nothing wrong with your TV or your PS3 and you would not see any difference in the games graphics if it was in 1080i. I'm playing my PS3 on a 46" 1080p TV and my PS3 games look great in 720p.

Video goes Balck with some games

Hi

Offhand, have you tried another souce for the video or connecting the ps3 another way to the television?

Is your ps3 covered by warranty, this seems like a possible hardware problem. But first have you tried updating your ps3 internal software to the latest available?

Please check these things first and let mek now.

Your HDTV only supports 1080i ? If thats the case make sure that under settings youve got only 1080i selected appart from 480p which is standard.

If thats not the case then tell me: Does sound play or just a blank screen and no sound??? (game crashes)
