Hi, Did you manage to solve this. I have a similar problem. My thought would be to add belkinf5d7132 as range extender, but not sure if this works with thomson tg585. Regards

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Hello,
Please try one of the following option:
Browse to http://dsldevice.lan or to the IP address of your Thomson Gateway (by default: 192.168.1.254).
If your computer runs Windows Vista or Windows XP, you can also access the Thomson Gateway Web Interface using the Internet Gateway Device icon.

If you computer runs Windows Vista:
1 On the Windows Start menu, click Network.
2 The Network window appears:
3 Right-click your Thomson Gateway (displayed as THOMSON TGXXX) and click View device web page.
4 The Thomson Gateway Web Interface appears.

If you computer runs Windows XP:
1 Go to My Network Places.
2 The My Network Places window appears:
3 Double-click your Thomson Gateway (displayed as THOMSON TGXXX).
4 The Thomson Gateway Web Interface appears.

Be sure you don't have any popup blocker or firewall interfering.

For more reference here below the manual (Version 7 that is basically the same of V8)

Hooking up a Linksys dual range router to a 2 Wire cable modem

ok once your internet is resolved you shouldnt need to have any computer hard wired to the router but it should go like this cable from your wall to the modem, then cable from modem to the router, after that you can go wireless all the way just make sure that its all secure and encrypted dont want the next door neighbor stealin your internet

Thomson TG 585 v7 Wireless Problem

HI
The following info. might help you fixing the above problem:

For WIRELESS CONNECTION follow these Steps:
(Note: Keep the Ethernet cable plugged in unless we set up
WIRELESS)
1: Click on Home Network
2: Wlan
Click on Configure which is the 3rd last icon on the Top
Make sure that the option-Interface Enabled is ticked.
Channel selection should be ob Manuall.
Wireless channel can be 11( thats what is in my case).
Encryption is again depending on what type of sercurity you wants. I would suggest go for WPA.
After editing the above info. do not fail to note the KEY before clicking Apply
Now just enable the WIRELESS CONNECTION on your PC /
Laptop,
Pull the SSID of your router and Click connect.
It will ask for the WEP/WPA key?
Enter the key and Click connect.

Unable to install after 81 %

If the setup CD is unable to setup your modem/router (it is also called a "gateway") you can do the router configuration via the Web User Interface of the router. you will need ADSL settings such as:
a. Encapsulation mode. (typically PPPoA or PPPoE)
b. Multiplexing: (it can be LLC or VC)
c. Virtual Circuit Range.
d. Username & Password (ADSL UN/PW)

note: All of these ADSL settings should be provided/given to you by your ISP/ADSL provider. You can call your ISP for this settings.

just notify me if you will need further assistance doing this, but first make sure you have all the settings for ADSL.

How to extend the range of my MN-700 Base Station

Hi Entry Level Extenders (or by their real technological name Repeaters) are chipset dependent and therefore guaranteed to work with Hardware of the same Brand. You can try to build your Own Extender. Buy two Access Points (AP) one of them has to be able to be configured as Client. Configure the client AP to communicate to the MN-700 and then plug the second AP to it and configure it as a regular AP. Put the concoction in the middle of the way between the MN-700 and the destination computer. Doing such an arrangement might cost a little more, and be a little bulky. On the other hand it would not cut the bandwidth into Half as Repeaters do. Otherwise may be this can Help.
