It's working!!! Watching very carefully for a full cycle to go thru..Had a few sparks the first time I connected it. Scared the pants off me. This old girl is not used to someone like that. Hey, but a girl has got to do... what a has to be done. I live in a rural area and repair men don't like driving this far. Sear's gave me a date of 2/1. I really need to wash before that don't ya think :)) Thanks again

Do you know where I can find a manual for my machine LAT8840BAW?? I found one for Maytag Dep 1994 thru 1997. The only difference I could see was the wiring on the LAT880 had two additional buttons than mine.

My Maytag "Dependable Care" dryer timer is not functioning and the dryer will not work. Will simply replacing the timer fix the problem? The washer/dryer set has been wonderful, but is about 12yrs old. ...

Don';t throw the dryer away yet. Check the circuit breaker in the electric panel to see it it has popped. If it checks out ok then check where you plug the dryer electric cord in. There may be an overload pop-out button on the receptacle. If there is, reset it.

No screws in the front of my maytag topload washer. do I acess the timer from the rear

Yes you do remove the rear plate by removing the back screws remove the knob off the timer if there is a nut holding it to the frame loosen it but do not remove until you take the back cover off when replacing the timer remove one wire at a time to keep them in order. Please rate if helpful.

Topload maytag washer partially fills by its self overnight or even a day or two may pass.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Washer will not spin

Sounds like it could either be an electrical problem, with the signal from the timer control board getting to the gear box,,, or it could be the gearbox itself.

Pt, as long as you verified the lid switch is good, do this simple test. Get a piece of hose the same size as the one going to the pressure switch, connect it and blow into it. See if it starts agitating. If it does, there's your problem..Catriver post back.
