Question about GE Profile JTP18 Electric Single Oven

Ge profile convection oven

My ge profile convection oven's bake function does not work however the broil function does. Some months ago something shorted in the instrumnet panel and since then the bake does not work. the setting for the temperature and the bake light come on. i was told it was either a sensor or the mother board. Can you please help, i cannot afford a new oven at this time and Sears is charging me over 200 just to make the visit. Thanks

Hi.

There is only a probe sensor, located inside the oven cavity. This sensor controls both oven baking and broiling functions. If the problem is only when baking, then it is not the temperature probe.

The problem is usually the baking element. The element can be tested removing it from the cavity and reading impedance on the element's contact with the aid of a multimeter.
Multimeter must be set to read Ohms (impedance) on Rx1. If impedance is infinite (circuit open), then the element must be replaced.

In case the element is good, then the problem will be either the Electronic Control (what you called mother board, often called ERC), or a broken wiring.

Parts and diagrams available on Sears or Partselect website.

My top oven won't reach temperature. Convection and broil work, bake doesn't. Over a year ago I did a self clean...hasn't worked since. I really need it to work especially with Thanksgiving next week.

It does sound like the element may be bad. The control will cycle the bake and broil elements to even the heat in the oven. if the element is out the oven won't heat well.

I have a GE Monogram Built-in Convection Wall Oven (model no. ZEK737WP3WG) and the heating elements have stopped working. The electrical power is working, and the control panel, light, convection fan...

It is possible that a relay on the control board is bad. GE has a relay in the common circuit to the bake and broil element. this has been a problem in a few ovens I have repaired. Check for this it is usually an orange relay on the board.

GE Profile Stove baking option not working

Possibly the bake igniter, the temperature sensor or the electronic oven clock/control. Does broil mode heat properly or does it run cool also? If broil heats to the proper temperature then the temperature sensor is probably ok. That leaves the ignitor or the controller which takes some more troubleshooting. If it is the controller, we repair them at www.fixyourboard.com.

F9 error code while using the convection baking function

This is a lock switch error code. Check wiring to door lock switch (the wire harness may be connected wrong). Check for stuck lock switch. If the switch cannot be re adjusted, it must be replaced.
