Question about LG LRFD25850 French Door Refrigerator
This is the second time for this problem. cost me over $300 first time and now it has happened again. Melted plastic covering over lights. Food in top shelf ruined. Appliance is three years old.
Model # 795 77316600
That should be a covered repair. There was a safety bulletin on that. Call Sears and complain. Tech should have known that.

I have seen this problem several times. The solution is to replace the main control board p# 6871JB1375E and the light socket harness p# 6621JK2003B. LG has updated the main control and added a thermostat to the new light socket, preventing it from overheating.
