This message occurs when the display mode in the video settings is outside the parameters of the monitor.

One way to try and get past this is to boot to the F8 Menu (press F8 at startup till you get a windows start menu, and select the "Enable VGA Mode" for WIndows XP or "Low Resolution Mode" Vista/WIndows 7 and let the system boot to a 640 x 480 low resolution. Once at desktop, you can right click teh desktop and go to dispaly properties and increase the color and resolutiont to the OPTIMAL for you monitor.

Sometimes a monitor will display a certain resolution and then after a restart will say that it doesn't support the display mode that it was just using perfectly fine before the restart. I haven't yet figured out if it's a driver issue with the dell monitors or something else, but after setting a custom resolution to the 60Hz instead of the usable 75Hz, I can usually get the monitor to display the resolution that it should have been able to in the first place.

My Cannon SD1000 Powershot is stuck on video and will not switch to photo mode.

Could be related to a stuck shutter which is a common problem with this camera. Check that all physical parts are moving and do an unstuck process to free the shutter if this is the issue. See the link for more details:

How to go service mode Cannon ir 400 ?

Here is the error code page http://www.scribd.com/doc/56428927/iR-400-Code-List
And here is the service manual
http://www.scribd.com/doc/135167936/canon-Ir-400-Service-Manual
Looking at what the error is, getting into the service mode will not allow you to fix it; you have some parts to replace first.

My cannon power shot sd600 viewer doesnt turn on

Sounds like you accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD screen on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. Try pressing this button one more time to see if it turns back on.

Mine too! Screen works fine in video mode as well. Love my camera and dont want to replace it (have been using the traditional viewfinder), but repair too expensive.

All ideas welcome.

Display Cannon 630 powershot

Thanks for your reply
Out of frustration I was sitting looking at the camera and thought to try all buttons and see what hapenned. On the righthand side of the camera in the bottom left position is a button marked display. Normally during live display mode, you can either switch the screen on or of by pressing this button (to conserve the batteries). If the camera is powered off and then on again, the screen automatically is in live display screen active mode again. For some reason my display remained off. When I depressed this button once after switching the camera on - voyla! The display worked again in live viewing mode. I do not know whether the screen is supposed to stay in the off mode when powered down in live display off mode even when it is switched off and then back on again or not, but the previous times I did, it was automatically on when powered up again.
So, before repairing your camera, please make sure that it is actually broken - refrain from making a fool of yourself like I did.
Thanks once again for your support
Regards - notsobroken

This should work as long as you have the correct converter ring for the camera.
