No suction with roller

When the switch is positioned on "floor", there is suction. When the switch is positioned on "carpet", there's no suction but the roller brush turns. Shouldn't I have both brushroll action and suction at the same time?

It's brand new. It worked that way right out of the package. Plus, the suction works fine when the brush is off. The suction function turns off entirely when I switch to "carpet".

Hoover wind tunnel u6445-900. my vacuum seems to have super suction on carpet. You have to DRAG the vacuum and PUSH it with great force to get it to move with the self propelled switch engaged.

It's an issue that the front roller isn't engaged. there's usually a belt connected to the roller on one side of it. That belt is connected to the same motor that develops the suction. You have to find that area and either pull the belt over the motor and/or the brush. Close it back up and turn it on again.

How do I adjust the height of the brushes and suction

look for a blockage -something may have dislodged the lever mechanism, or be stuck preventing the roller or position leaver from moving.

Brush roller works on carpet setting but not on floor setting. have already cleaned roller. suction is great. just won't do anything on floor setting (all 3 settings)

Check the arms that make the roller go up and down to achieve the settings. There may be something clogged in there.GOOD LUCK FRIEND

Hi, i have a panasonic eco max, the brush has stopped going round, the belt is as new and brushes clean.suction good from hose. Any ideas please? thank you

The brush on this model is controlled by the on/carpet/floor switch and will only work in the carpet position. If the suction motor is running then it could be the roller brush motor, but it's more likely to be the microswitch which stops the brush motor when the handle is returned to the upright position.

No suction and rollers not spinning

Hopefully this will help. On the back of the vacuum at the bottom the is a U shaped tube. Depending on what model you have it will either be a thumb release or a quarter turn screw head release. Remove that and check for a plug. Two things can cause the roller to not turn, 1) Broken belt or 2) Shut off switch. On the head, to the right there is a round large knob with a pointer, it must point to the lines (or carpet). If in the other position it is shut off for bare floors. Remember that it automaticly shuts off when the handle is in the upright position.

No suction on carpets

The reason it doesn't pick up on the carpets is because the belt is stretched or worn and can't turn the roller brush against the resistance of the carpet. Here is a link to the replacement belts you need:

Eureka 4870: Brush roller turns even in hose setting.

You either have the wrong size belt, most likely too small, or you have installed a new belt incorrectly. When you open the cover on the bottom of your vac, you will see the pulley that moves as you flip the switch from floors to carpet. The belt does not go around this pulley. When activated(carpet) the pulley puts tension on the belt causing it to turn the roller. When switched back to hard floors, the belt looses tension allowing motor to cause suction but disabling roller. Also, the dial on top of vac is only to direct suction, not for disabling roller

Hoover savvy no suction on carpet setting

Check to make sure you hear the vac. motor is running when in that position. The switch in the handle could be bad if it is not.
