When I use my webcam, I have to go into settings every time before I use it. Sometimes that doesn't work. I can see me and the person I am chatting with, but they can't see me. It used to work fine. It started doing this when I had to update MSN Messenger. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Uninstall current software unplug webcam download new software http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=ICE&type=LifeCam&sku=68A-00001 configure to msn Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)
CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly. The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software. If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Open MSN Click 'Open Menu' From 'Tools; navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup' Set your speakers Click 'Test' - if OK, move on. Set your mic as default Use the slider to set volume and test. Click 'Next' This takes you to the video setup Your webcam should be broadcasting - if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN Use 'Webcam Settings'to fine tune the picture. Click 'Finish'

To test if the A4Tech WEBcam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure itis connected properly.
Then check the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop offand the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - VideoSettings and select the A4Tech WEBcam
Also check the AudioSettings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.Avoidconnecting the WEBcam to an USB hub.
There are usually a few places to change your image size and quality. You can look under the start menu for the Acer utilities and then webcam settings. You can set the size and image quality there so it doesn't take up the screen. The other way is usually through the messenger software such as Skype or Yahoo messenger or MS messenger etc. There is a tuning and setup section in each you have to run that checks your image and sound and you can set it there. This can override your Acer settings while running so will only sned a smaller image and so on. You can set it to send webcam all the time automatically or only when you want to. The other person will have to use the same messenger to see and talk to you. They can also choose to accept images or not.
Yes, I have a Logitech WEBcam (not the same model) and I use Skype.
After you installed Skype then :- To test if the Logitech QuickCam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure it is connected properly. Then click on Start - All Program - Logitech - Logitech QuickCam and see if you can get the camera to capture your image/video. If this works then the fault is with the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select the Logitech QuickCam Also check the Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save. Avoid connecting the WEBcam to an USB hub.

Its not due to the laptop, the other person is viewing you on the internet (Yahoo/Msn etc) so the Video might get frozen sometimes or may be a lot many times depending on the bandwidth or the server load.
The voice is due to the microphone you are using, you can use microphone with noise reduction technology with some noise reduction utility.
Can be several reasons 1) Lack of resources - internet connection etc 2) Check settings

The person viewing the webcam should make the INTERNET CONNECTION as above ( less webcam connected )
Sometimes it takes a bit of juggling and I have been running on "connect via proxy" for 3 days to enable my webcam to show as 'available'
Do you have a router installed between your Skype installation and the other person. Does the other person have a router installed? Are you both using high speed connections i.e. a good broadband connection. Even cable will sometimes cause problems. If you and he has a router in your configurations, then verify that ports necessary for video transmission are open on both ends of the connections.
