As long as you have a Windows install disk you'll be fine. Just start the laptop with the disk in it, and you will somewhere have the option to format your harddrive. (you'll have to select advanced option in some menu) When setup asks for a license key, you should look for it on the laptop manual or the case itself. When Windows is then installed, the virus will be gone, and you will have a clean harddrive, but you'll also lose all your data!!!
If you have any questions, please ask them.

I have virus in my computer, its so slow how can i take out my virus from my Computer

There are a couple ways. Try downloading a free virus protection software program like AVG or avast!. They only provide virus protection, but they also clean up your PC. If your computer is too far gone, you may need to take it into a tech store and get your Hard Drive wiped clean.

Need to run HP PC System Recovery on Pavillion a775c. Files corrupted - fixing this older computer for a friend. No virus protection. Only one user account (the administrator). Cannot start any program...

One way but its drastic, you could replace the Hard Drive. It makes me think that it might be the hard drive because windows cannot boot from the drive. Its pretty easy to replace a hard drive, then run the system recovery disc.

Have you reloaded your laptop's operating system, as well as all drivers for other parts of your computer, like Wireless and CD/DVD driver? Did the computer actually have a virus? Viruses best removed with antivirus software before wiping the entire Hard Drive. Let me know if this is not helpful ... jaye.ellen@gmail.com

Emachine laptop hard disc is password protected

If it is a hard drive password, you don't. You will have to install a new hard drive, reload the operating system and all device drivers.

Will rebooting my pc end up in the hard disc drive being wiped.

not really. if you do too many hard resets on the computer it could eventually lead to hard drive failure because the seek heads are not parked before the drive is shut down. however, a few times here and there are definitely not going to wipe a hard drive.

System not functioning in my laptop?

Obviously, you want to save files from the computer; any files transferred to another system could infect that system.

If you really need those files I would recommend downloading an Ubuntu ISO and burning it to a CD. This gives you to boot to an operating system from a Compact Disc.

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Ubuntu Linux has the ability to browse the Windows hard drive, if needed, transfer the files off the partition. You can burn the files from Ubuntu, if you have two Disc Drives, move the files on to a Flash Drive, or you can transfer them across your home network. Beware, this can spread the damage to other systems that do not have active virus protection.
Seriously, you need Norton, McAfee, or AVG Free at the least; these programs can intercept virus like activity as it happens in the memory. Furthermore, a script blocker like Noscript, Ad-aware, or MS Windows Defender can help prevent Spyware/Trojans/Variants from installing when you browse a untrusted site.

Once you have backed up the files you want to save you'll need to use your system recovery disc to format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system on your laptop.

Computer is infected with viruses

Blue screens as a result of infection mean the virus has corrupted the operating system. You can fix it by doing an operating system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. Depending on the virus, this may only be a temporary fix. If this turns out to be a temporary fix, then the sure way to fix it is to completely wipe the hard drive, completely reformat using NTFS, and reload the operating system, which I would recommend. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the virus damaged the hard drive and it will need to be replaced.

Reformat

Insert the winxp disk and boot from that, when prompted hit any key to boot from cd.

Win xp will start to install choose to delete the partition, confirm delete.

then press enter to install to that unallocated partition, choose format to NTFS.

Follow the prompts and it has formated the hard drive and will install XP.
