Best thing to try here is to take the print head out of the printer and run it under a warm tap for a while - until no more colour is coming off it. Dry it with kitchen towel - not loo paper (it comes apart too easy and can get in the jets) Make sure that the contact areas on the back is completely dry before you put it back in.
Just before you do put it back in, stand it on a fresh piece of kitchen town with the nozzles against the paper. If there is any ink left in you should see the lines from each colour - including 3BK. Put it back together and see what happens. It's not guaranteed to work but it works more often than it fails.

Problem with my PC cant get mky printer to printer more than blank pages. Just bought new ink cartridges

Before fitting new cartridges and before removing them from their packaging give them a good shake.

If you think you have blocked nozzles stand the old cartridge in warm water.

I've installed color cartridge but it won't print in color

Try to re-insert the color cartridge into the printer and make sure it is properly seated in the cartridge carrier.
If that doesn't help, try to clean the print nozzles. Please follow the steps below:
1. Press Copy. 2. Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display. 3. Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display. 4. Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles. 5. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.

When I print a photo, vertical lines appear throughout the photo. The ink cartridges are new. No error message appears on screen.

Hello,

Please state the model of your printer.

Vertical lines appears on prints because the nozzles on your print head are blocked, it doesn't means all nozzles but some of your nozzles are blocked. A print head of an inkjet consists of many tiny little pores or nozzles, through which jets of inks are sprayed on the photo paper to create an image, if some of this tiny pores are blocked print outs deteriorates, so cleaning the print head is an option if your printer has print head inside the printer you can first clean it through the head cleaning option present in the maintainence tab of your printer software, for printers that have print head on the cartridges, you can add a few drops of isopropryl alcohol on the print head and leave it for a minute and put it back on the printer and run the head cleaning utility of your printer software.

Hope this helps you.

Well of course, I have changed the cartridge and run all the diagnostic checks for the printer. Deep cleaning, nozzle check and print head alignment. I think the purge needs cleaning and would prefer...

A full or saturated purge wouldn't cause the 3bk to stop printing.
The 3bk cartridge as I recall is a rather short lived cartridge to begin with, and I seem to recall people saying things like "It's brand new" and then I find out that brand new to them meant 2 weeks old, which is enough tome to deplete one of those things, ESPECIALLY if you do a deep cleaning (that really sucks back the ink).
Horrible as it may sound, I still think the cartridge is at fault.

My nozzle check keeps showing broken lines but I've run the head cleaner like 5 times. The black is a new cartridge and even it has broken lines.

The most likely cause is that some of the print head nozzles are blocked with dried ink and inserting new ink cartridges won't fix this problem. You need a new print head.
Print heads are not cheap, you may be better putting your money towards a new printer.

It won't print black ink even with new cartridge and multiple cleanings

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.

Sounds like the print head carrier, the printerhead has its black cartridge nozzles blocked, due to dryed up ink. Remove the back cartridge and Check the area under it, does there appear to be wet ink? if there is, then the cartridge is working but the nozzles are blocked. If the print head is removeable you might try to sink the bottom a bit in warm water to get the ink to dissolve from the nozzels. It should print after that.

just make sure the head is clean and dry before placing it back into the printer.

let me know how you get along with it.

Won't print black ink text; looks like faint watermark print; ran all maintenance check several times (nozzle checks, etc)

Remove the black cartridge and soak it with an alcohol free window cleaner soaked paper towel let it sit on the towel for a good thirty minutes then wipe clean and put back in printer run nozzle check if necessary.
