Question about Panasonic SC-HT680 System
A DVD was jammed in drive 2. We took off the lid and removed the DVD, but that didn't solve the problem. Now, when you turn the system on, drive 2 pops out and the screen reads INIT, then Please Wait...What do we do?
Try these steps to reset the unit. I got these from the Panasonic Cust. Service # 1800-211-7262
1. Unplug the unit power.
2. Wait 2-3 mins before replugging the unit.
3. Turn it on.
4. If the display shows INIT / PLEASE WAIT, Press and HOLD the Tune Mode (STOP) button on the main unit. At the same time press #10 (Channel button) in the remote control. They have to be pressed & held simultaneously for atleast 5 seconds. Wait till the INIT / Please Wait display disappears.
5. Once the message disappears, RESTART the main unit by pressing the POWER button OFF / ON.
6. If it does not work, try several times. If it does not work, contact a local repair shop (call them to find out a repair shop near you). If the repair shop wont do it for you, call them back - thats what they told me.

If your stuck at the please wait and your disk trays wont open... Let me guess you got a disk jammed into it at one point in time even if you got the disk out..
to start if you take off the case and take off the white cover over the disk trays you will see a lot and I meen a lot of plastic white cogs and rigs that all work in sync with each other and it only takes getting a disk jammed to knock something out of place and it will take awhile to figure it out if you dont know what your doing or looking for..
For me it was this little plastic pin looking thing and once I popped it back in place the trays automatically tried retracted the number that is lit on the front for me it was 1 but my fingers was in the way once out of the way the trays went back into place and it said no disk because I had no disk in the tray but when I was putting it back together I forgot something and I striped hafe the grooves cog so now in there I have a cog that is have circle on one side and the little grooves on the other..
So that could be most of your problems..

I have a SA-HT650. I have the Exact same error(s). I ordered a TRAVERSE BLOCK/CHANGER BLOCK for $70. No difference. I did notice that if I held the power button and pluged it in the thing would almost work. It seems to be fixated on the Disk 2 tray as it tries to partially eject that tray then the vertical moving DVD reader mechanism tries to go down and jams because the tray is partially ejected. Disk check sometimes works but tray 2 doesnt retract.
What could the problem be? Can I put a meter on something? Spray something? Does anyone have a guess on how to fix this?
