Rightclick on your destop, and there should besome graphics options menu (not Windows display settings, but something with Intel, Catalyst or NVidia in the name. Open that menu and look for brightness options. They should be in there somewhere, but unless you ca tell what brand graphics card you have, I can't tell you where.

I hope this helps,
Yannick.

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
there is a brightness adjustment within the video/display properties in windows. Right click on the desktop left click on properties then Lft clk advanced then look for the adjustment in the tabs. Nvidia and ATI have different setups as does Intel .

Try goong to menu and check if brightness, color, sharpness, hue, contrast is set to 0. I have the same model, whenever I use USB in Source, those settings in menu automatically change. If thats the case, go ahead and change brightness to 50, contrast to 50, color to 50, sharpness to 2, hue to 50

How do i increase the screen brightness HP elitebook 8530p

Sounds like your keybinding/hotkey combo is not doing its job. (or your bulb in the display is going out)

You can open up Control Panel and adjust brightness from there.

Step 1 Click "Start ' Control Panel ' Hardware and Sound ' Power Options" to open the Power Options window.
Step 2 Click and drag the bottom "Screen Brightness" slider to the right to increase screen brightness and to the left to decrease it. Making this adjustment changes the brightness level only for the current power source; if you change power sources, the screen brightness may change again.
Step 3 Click "Change Plan Settings" on whichever power plan is currently selected.
Step 4 Click and drag the "Adjust Plan Brightness" slider to the right to increase brightness for each of the power sources, such as "On Battery" or "Plugged In." If you want high-precision numeric control, you need to access the advanced settings.
Step 5 Click "Change Advanced Power Settings."
Step 6 Click "+" next to "Display" and then "Display Brightness" to expand these options.
Step 7 Click "On Battery" and enter a percentage in the field provided. Choosing "100" will set the screen to maximum brightness; any other brightness will be a percentage of the maximum brightness. To increase the brightness, make sure the number you enter is higher than the current value.
Step 8 Click "Plugged In" and set its brightness percentage.
Step 9 Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the Advanced Settings window.
Step 10 Click "Save Changes" to save any changes you made on the Edit Plan Settings page. If you only make changes in the Advanced Settings page, the Save Changes button will be grayed out. If that's the case, just click "Cancel."

Hope this helps!

If you shine a bright light at the screen, with no external screen connected, and you can see a picture/desktop just around the light source, the ballast unit or flourescent back light maybe faulty. If nothing at all, check out flea bay for a replacement screen.

Color calibration

All monitors have a brightness control. Click the menu button and from the on screen menu choose the brightness and set it to your liking. There should also be a contrast control and may or may not be a backlight control. All the user controlled setting are in the OSM.

The 'hand' on screen

Make sure that the Sensor Bar is setup correctly:
Check the cord on the Sensor Bar for any frayed wires or kinks, and verify that the Sensor Bar is free of obstructions.
Verify that the Wii Remote is being used between 3 and 8 feet directly in front of the TV, and that the Sensor Bar is placed properly (see Sensor Bar setup).
Verify that there are no bright light sources, including sunlight, behind or near the TV, shining towards the Wii Remote or reflecting off the TV screen. Also verify there are no heat sources (such as electric, propane or kerosene heaters, flames from fireplaces or candles, stoves, etc.). If there are bright lights shinning directly behind the TV or on the screen, turn the lights off.
If problem persist your Wii Remote need service.

Tube turns on nothing else does

If the Tv turns on (power supply is ok), screen lights up (inverters are ok) but don't get a blue screen, menu options, source options, or audio, it's most likely the main board (aka Motherboard) is faulty. If a DVD player is hooked upto the TV, check whether you can get audio from that (change the source using remote), in such a case it could be a problem with LCD Interface board. My $3 is on faulty Main board.
