Paper will not print from tray 1.

Media (paper or card) will not print from tray 1. The roller does not turn so does not pick up media. It was printing fine from tray 2 before the red light came on and locked the printer. It was previously printing text OK although it was making some noise whilst doing it but when I printed text + artwork on same document it would put a border line around the artwork. Panel has been going blank for some time but was not showing any fault at any time.

SOURCE: media jam tray- contiueous. if i lift tray up, it wotks

I had a similar problem but not necessarily identical cause. Mine was due to the rubber rollers which grip the sheet of paper. I clean the rubber wheels with diluted alcohol 50/50 using cotton buds. That did the tricks for awhile & eventually had to have a new set of rollers put in.
Well, try the cleaning bit & good luck.

PS I came across this site by accident, I certainly will come back. Cheers

Hi, I am trying to print with my HP LaserJet 3390 and it says 'No paper pickup'. Can you help? Regards, Peter G.

Try to perform the following steps in the mentioned order:

1. Verify that the media was inserted far enough into the input tray. In tray 2 (HP LaserJet 3390/3392 all-in-one), verify that the paper-length guide is in the correct position for the media size that you are using.

2. Reload the media in the input tray and press c00597632.gif to continue the job.

When paper is feeding into the printer it takes to many pieces

If the printer is picking up multiple sheets of paper, follow the recommendations below:
  • Keep more than 10 sheets in the In tray.
  • Ensure media is not loaded too far and extending past the In tray.
  • Store all media in a dry, cool place. Humid climates will see this issue more often.
  • Do not print on media that has already been printed on. The dampness of the ink will cause pages to stick together.
If the printer continues to pick up multiple sheets of paper, follow the following troubleshooting steps below:
  1. Remove the media from the In tray.
  2. Fan the edges, re-square the media, and reload the media properly into the In tray.
  3. Slide the paper width guide to the right until it stops at the edge of the media, then push the paper length guide towards the paper until it stops.
  4. NOTE: Not all HP Deskjet printers have rear access doors. Skip this step if your printer does not have a rear-access door. Remove the rear-access door (if applicable) and clean the internal rubber rollers with a soft lintfree cloth moistened with distilled water. Wait until the rubber rollers dry and replace the rear access door.
  5. Verify that the correct media size and type is selected in the printer settings along with the appropriate quality.
  6. If this issue still persists, try a different type of paper.

241.10 paper jam

Um I don't know what the other guy is saying since your paper jam has nothing to do with where he is telling to look...

From the service manual:

Error 241 subcode 10:

Possible Causes:
Failure to feed possible causes include:
• Edge locking
• Worn or contaminated pick tires
• Overfilling of tray past the fill line.

Action:

Fan media.
Turn media over.
Reduce amount of media loaded in tray 1.
Replace pick tires.*

To replace pick tires:

Integrated tray autocompensator pick roll assembly removal

1. Remove the integrated tray, and look underneath the printer for the autocompensator arm. Pull the arm
down.

2. Press on the end of the tab (A) and pull the pick roll off the arm. Repeat this step for the pick roll on the other side. Next, gently release the autocompensator arm. Discard the used pick rolls.
