Re: damaged the screen
Whilst i am unsure as to a solution for your problem here, there is hope for the future.
Silicone skin cases to protect the unit from the undesirable elements.
I did however find a web site that sells the said cases and they seem relatively cheap and inexpensive as opposed to the potential accidental damage that most products of this nature, die from.
Manufactures would rather see you buy a new camera, where as i say - if it's worth protecting, look at the alternatives such as this, http://www.uxcell.com/silicone-skin-case-for-digital-camera-nikon-s200-transparent-white-p-7540.html

There is not an actual camera repair manual (if only!) but do not try to take the camera apart on your own. 90% of the time you'll only cause more damage to the camera.
On the bright side, there are many electronics stores that will gladly replace it for you or offer you a refurbished version of the same camera.
Needless to say, I wouldn't try to replace it on your own of fear of messing something else up.

It doesn't say lens error? but it won't focus? it is probably the same as the other people who do have lens error displayed on the screen, the lens is broken is what the repair company told me about my s200 when i told me lens error
Sounds like Nikon are just trying to get out of fixing it. Have you read the terms of the warranty. If the screen is not working then it is more than likely an electronic fault and they are covered by the warranty. The only way the screen would not be covered is if it was damaged by the owner. The screen is part of the camera and therefore comes under the warranty, unless it specifically states that it is not covered in the warranty. Ask a consumer rights department. Don't take no for an answer.
In general yes, LCD components are replaceable. Your best bet is to contact a local Nikon repair service center: http://www.nikonlinks.com/resources_repair.html . The same goes for laptop screens, etc, etc. Yes they are replaceable. It's just not an easy task for the end user (you).
