Be sure that it is the same kinda ram ... I mean the frequency ...anyway ..go to bios..by pressing del on boot ...and look for some that says optimal factory defaults ... click ... ..after that press F10 to confirm and restart ... if after that will not read the 2 G ...you have to reinstall the operation system to make it see i t...
do not worry cause everithing is fine ..if the ram unit you add was damaged ..you should been having problems booting ....the solution for your problems was to remove tha Bios batery for a few seconds ..but Im not sure how easy is to get to it on this model ...
anyway if you want to see if they are readed ..just right click on My computer ..and properties and it should show all that is on it ...cpu...ram memory ...operation system..
the final solution is to reinstall .but it is a recommended one in all upgrading of this kind..cause the real changes in speed and promptness are like rockets fire...
anyway ..to be honest on all models the speed depends on the cpu size also...

You can add 1GB of ram but that's it. Definately not a 2GB Stick or 4GB stick.

The best thing to do is to save all your personal information and data off of your Netbook computer. Save your work onto flash drives, or LAN this netbook computer with another computer to transfer your information if you need to.

Then once all your data is saved onto flash drive or another computer, take it in to a computer store and get a technician to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows.
By reinstalling Windows you would set your computer to defaults. This is the best way.

Another way is to uninstall all programs and applications that you do not use at all. This will free up same space on the hard drive and it will mean that the computer won't have to load these unnessary programs at boot up.
You could upgrade the RAM modules to at least 2GB. If you do upgrade the RAM make sure to get and install the fastest frequency that is supported of this little guy. Check the ASUS wesite for specs.

Take care!

you can upgrade up to 2GB (DDR2)
Your computer has 1 memory slot you remove the memory and install a new one.
you can use either
2GB 800MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM
or
2GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM

How to open and upgrade RAM memory of gateway netbook model LT2704u?

This netbook is really the Acer Aspire One D255. You have to pop off the keyboard, then remove 4 screws that hold the back panel in place, which will allow you to remove that back panel in order to get to the memory.

Here's a video - blurry but it tells the story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KYNTvF0-5M

To upgrade my Asus Eeepc 4G

The only way you can add space is for you to use an external HDD because an Eee PC has a built-in hard drive that cannot be upgraded.
