Has this computer worked before for you? If so try pressing F8 before windows tries to boot and select to boot the last known good configuration. I am also curious about the trying multiplo OS on it. Was 2000 on the other hard drive? If it does not start with the last known good configuration you may want to reset your Bios. If you open the computer case after you disconnect the power, look on the motherboard for a Bios jumper, it generally has 3 pins, and may say bios someplace around it on the motherboard. Change the jumper clip to the reset bios position, sometimes this is done by removing the jumper. Then remove the battery, there is a system battery on the motherboard (usually a CR2032) remove it for a few seconds then replace it. Plug the unit in and reboot it. Shut it back down, unplug it again, switch the Bios jumper back and that should do it. Be sure to let us know if it works and please rate this advice below.

Bro just one good thing you should do... if you got no important files in the hard disk just clean format the drive and reinstall a good tested OS probably windows xp pro... make sure you low level format your drive before installing the OS... also you may try updating your BIOS.

rank me if this help ok...

Acer is going straight to a black screen after the acer logo in startup....it just shows a tiny blinking line. It goes no farther. I need help fast

Apparently your Acer cannot find the operating system. As soon as the Acer logo comes up, there should appear in one of the bottom corners "F" & a number should appear. Immediately start pressing that F number (top row of keyboard). This should take you to a boot screen. Scroll down to boot sequence. Hit enter. Make sure boot-up sequence is CD or floppy drive first, second should be HDD, then escape. Restart computer. Should then boot off CD drive. I am assuming you have an operating system (XP, windows, etc.). Let me know if this doesn't work.

The windows files are corrupted or the hard drive has issues, load cd installation disc if available, if that fails have the hardware checked for possible replacement.

I get my ibm logo on screen, it says f1 -setup or f12 boot from network,i go to set up and do the set up then exit but then it shows me the floppy and show i must press f1 to reboot but then takes me...

When you go to the setup screen, can you see your hard drive listed on the general tab?
It sounds as if the BIOS can't find a master boot record to start windows. This is stored on the hard drive and may have become corrupted or the hard drive may have failed. If you can see the hard drive in BIOS, try going to advanced boot options by repeatedly pressing F8 on startup and choose the option to 'repair your computer'.

Blank screen appears on the startup with only cursor on it

The Acer Recovery CDs do not set the Boot flag on the hard drive. I had to manually set the boot flag to on using GPARTED Live. After restarting using the GPARTED CD, you can manage the flags under the partition drop down and click on the Boot flag. After exiting GPARTED, I rebooted the laptop and no more black screen....fixed!!
I hope this helps others.

Start up problem

This generally indicates a hard drive failure. You can try to do an operating system repair with the recovery or operating system disc, but most likely you will need to replace the hard drive.

When you see the IBM screen you need to enter the boot menu. On this screen it tells you what to press to get to the boot menu. Place the recovery or operating system disc in the drive, and select the CD drive from the boot menu, then follow the directions. If the repair doesn't work, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If you have any issues during or after the format or install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced. You want to do a full NTFS format, not the quick format, if the hard drive is bad, it won't format.
