Question about Maxent MX-26X3 Television

1 Answer

As soon as this plug the power cable and change the button right next to it to ON, the backlight turns on automatically without doing anything else. Press power button, volume, or any other button, and get no response at all. Also notices, that not always the backlight comes on. Dont see apparent damage to any capacitors. Thanks.

LG 55LW5600 problem Symptoms: no audio, no video, no backlight.

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

T8500 Backlight

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage-new/manuals/Moto/T8500%20English%20only%20June5.pdf

I did not find anything mentioned about the backlight function. However, on other TalkAbout models the backlight will automatically illuminate when you press any of the buttons other than the PTT and the musical note, and then the light will remain on for 5 seconds before automatically turning off. I do not know if this is the same on the T8500.

Best regards.

Screen wil not hook up to tower, have Dell tower, there is not button to puch, is this a wireless, or is the button hidden. I just got it, and have not idea how to use it, when it is not obviousl Please...

Monitors are not wireless devices. What model of Westinghouse monitor is it? I can check my stack of manuals for a specific location for the power button.

General setup for connecting a monitor to a computer:

With the computer and the monitor off, first make sure that the monitor power and data cables (VGA for example) are securely connected to the monitor. Plug the data cable into the corresponding port on the back of the computer. Make sure to use the active video port (if you have a video card, use those ports and not the ones on the motherboard). Plug the power cable into a good electrical outlet. Turn on the monitor with the power button on the lower right hand side of the monitor as you look at the front of the unit (I'm using the LTV-19W3 for one possible location of the power button). (Some other monitors will have the power button on the top or under the bezel at the front of the unit.). If the monitor has several source options, press the Input or Source button to set the monitor to the one that matches the cable currently in use.

Now turn on the computer. (Please note that if the monitor is turned on after the computer, the computer may not properly identify the resolution. You should see something on the screen, even if it is a No Signal message.) Do you get an image on the screen? (I've found on some new computers with multiple video ports available, only one is active when the computer is delivered. You have to use a monitor with the cable for the active port to switch to another port (and changing cables).)

Trouble-shooting guidelines:

Next thing is to check if the monitor is good. Did a light come on indicating that the monitor had power (or was in standby)? If there is no power indications, then the power supply or the power cord has failed (try another power cord - listed as a CPU/monitor power cord at most shops). Then try a new data cable. Check if the monitor works on another computer if you can. The next items that can fail are the backlights, backlight inverter or video board itself.

It's probably a backlight or backlight inverter issue if the problem occurs on all sources and the onscreen menus. (The backlight itself usually fades or makes the on-screen image change to pink/red.) With a bad backlight, you'll usually see a very dim image if you look at the monitor from an inch from the screen. Block the room light from overwhelming this image (sometimes a carefully positioned flashlight will help you see something). If the inverter or video board is bad, you will see nothing. For an out-of-warranty monitor, open up the back of the monitor and remove the shielding. Look for any scorch marks or bulging or damaged capacitors. (Sometimes other parts will fail on this part but these can be spotted easily. Capacitors look like cylinders on a tripod.) The scorch mark and smoke may indicate a resistor or zener diode that had been used as a fuse and is now gone.

If you borrow (or have a) high-end multimeter (able to measure high frequencies - 50 kHz) or an oscilloscope, hold the multimeter probes a fraction of an inch apart about an inch above the inverter board and power up the TV. If you see a 1 or an actual value, you have a good inverter. If you see a reading near 0, the board is bad or the multimeter can't resolve the frequency.

In either case, you can buy a replacement inverter for $50-150 and just do a simple swap. Disconnect all of the wires (connections are similar to molex and ribbon cables in a computer) and remove board (a few screws usually). Connect the cables to the new inverter. (If you google backlight inverter replacement, you'll find videos and text descriptions.) Note the part number on the board, including the Rev number, and order the exact one (shopjimmy.com or lcdparts.net are good starting points). Universal inverters do exist but can result in reversed controls (up to lower the brightness). Replacing individual parts on the board is cheaper but more prone to not tracking down all of the bad parts.

If the inverter is good, then it's probably backlights themselves (several in most monitors). These are sandwiched on the perimeter of the monitor (usually under some tape that holds the lamp, reflector and other parts together. You need to order by length and width and get ones for your monitor size. Separate the panel from the bezel. Remove the tape, and separate the reflector (make a note of how things are put together) then you have to Dremel (or use another rotary tool) to remove the plastic to get the backlight out. (They are often molded into the frame.) Then put in the new backlight and reassemble everything. See http://www.lcdparts.net/howto/default.aspx for more information but for an overview: http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/BacklightFix/overview.aspx. Then push the new backlights into place, reconnect the wires and close up the sandwich of tape and other parts around the screen. Then replace it in the bezel.

With a good spare backlight, you can test an inverter for condition (plug together and turn on the tv while the box is open). Similarly a good inverter can test the backlight.

I hope this helps.

(since the monitor is 4 years old, I'm not sure it's worth fixing when LED-backlit 19" widescreen 1600x900 resolution monitors are currently being sold for $100.)

Shut down my Acer 2480 wrong by pressing the power button. Now it doesn't reboot or boot up. I tried to pressing F2 to reboot but it doesn't do anything. Any suggestions?

Look at the power indicator:
If it is not lit, no power is being supplied to the computer. If the computer has a battery, it may be low and unable to power the computer. Connect the AC adapter to recharge the battey pack and make sure the AC adapter is properly plugged into the computer and to the AC power outlet.
If the power indicator is lit, check if a non-bootable (non-system) disk or USB thumbdrive is in the computer. If so, remove it and press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart the system.

Pressing F2 by itself is only used to enter the system's BIOS on startup. If the power indicator is lit but nothing appears on the screen - The computer's power management system automatically blanks the screen to save power. Press any key to turn the display on.
If pressing any key does not turn the display back on, check the following....
1. The brightness level might be too low. Press Fn and the right cursor key to increase brightness level
2. Display device might be set to an external monitor. Press Fn and F5 to toggle to the internal display
3. Backlight might be turned off. Press Fn and F6 to turn on the backlight.
4. If the Sleep indicator is lit, the computer is in Sleep mode. Press & release power button to resume.

PLUG YOUR PHONE INTO THE CHARGER WITHOUT THE BATTERY. PUT CHARGER IN AND OUT OF PHONE WHILE CHECKING IF THE SCREEN HAS CHANGED. DO THIS UNTIL SCREEN CHANGES (TAKES ABOUT 5MINS MAX) TO THE MAIN AT&T PAGE. NEXT YOU HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON AND AS SOON AS IT BEGINS CHANGING SCREENS CONTINUOUSLY PRESS THE CALL BUTTON. THE PHONE SHOULD BE BACK TO NORMAL AFTERWARDS. THE ONLY THING IS ONE OR TWO BUTTONS MAY WORK DIFFERENTLY.

I need instructions on how to fix the backlight on my HP dv1000 laptop. the monitor is a 14.1"

You'll need to remove the battery in order to access a series of screws that loosed the keypad and the smaller pad on which the power button resides. after unscrewing all of them [except the two little smaller ones located on your right edge], unscrew the covers off the RAM compartment and Wireless card compartment. Unplug the RAM and wireless cards. The wireless card has two cables attached to it that run right into your monitor, unplug those. Now you may be wondering why we are unplugging things that arent next to your backlight, well if it wasn't for the cale that runs from your wireless card right into the display, we wouldn't have to go through all this trouble. NEXT, flip the computer over and peel off the smaller pad on which you have your power on button. The remove the keypad and gently pull out the black and gray cables for the wireless unit. [you only have to do this if you need some slack when working with the screen]. Next widen the screen to its max and you'll see 4 dark screws (2 on each hinge). Before you unscrew them, you'll have to remove the data/power line connector located right next to your power switch. It's got this little black thingie you could use to pull it off [unplug it], all the above only allows you to place the screen on its back thus makig it easy for you to remove the screws that NOW open the screen [phew].
Now, once you have isolated your screen, remove all the rubber pads that like the perimeter of the screen [you'll find your screws below them. Unscrew those you'll on your way to accessing the backlight.
As for how to remove the backlight, read through the manaul on this link, I am sure you either have a loose connection, or your backlight really is wasted and needs changing

No backlight

A couple things to try:

1st check the backlight settings

Turn on Backlighting and Control Brightness To use your device in dark environments, enable the automatic backlighting feature:
  1. From the Jump screen, press MENU t02003-15.gif then select Settings > Battery & Display.

  2. In the second group box, select the Turn on backlight when using device check box.

  3. Highlight, then select the Brightness slider to open it for editing. Roll the TRACKBALL right to increase brightness; roll the TRACKBALL left to decrease brightness. After you've made the adjustment, press the TRACKBALL to exit edit mode. t02007-55.jpg

  4. Select the length of time you want backlighting to stay on from the Turn off after pop-up menu.

  5. To use the device's light meter while the backlight is on, select the Use ambient light sensor check box.

  6. Press JUMP t02003-14.gif to return to the Jump screen and save your setting.
Now, when you press any button or key, or flip open the screen, backlighting will turn on for the set amount of time. Note that as long as you press a key or button before the set time elapses, the backlight will stay on.
Tips:
  • Even if you have not selected automatic backlighting, you can turn on backlighting at any time by pressing MENU t02003-15.gif + JUMP t02003-14.gif . The backlight will remain on for the time specified in the Backlight Turn off after pop-up menu.

  • When in key guard mode, you can turn on the backlight by pressing the RIGHT SHOULDER t02003-66.gif button.
If it still does not work, then you can try resetting the flex cable to the lcd.

Reseat the SidekickFlex cable

If that doesn't fix it then a new lcd assy will take care of the issue. they run about 45 dollars on ebay.
