I'm not familiar with the tv set, however here are some things to try.
It's possible that the tv powers up in stand-by mode, so you'll need to find a way to turn it on completely. See if there are channel +/- buttons on the tv and try them.
If the remote might be necessary, try to see if you have friends/family with a universal remote control, such as a Logitech Harmony, to lend to you for testing. This way you can avoid spending money for nothing on a remote.
Googling on this brand and model gives a lot of negativity though: a lot of problems posting, but no support or even an online manual. Personally I've never heard of Digistar. It might've been a bad investment.
If you are using the composite cables (RWY) make sure the red and white are plugged into the audio jacks and NOT the component cable plugs (RGB.) If you have the red audio cable plugged into the red component plug this will cause issues, especially with the sound.
It sounds like Ratio problem. It should be a button on your TV remote and or Cable TV box that will allow you to set the picture size to 4:3 Ratio, 16:9 or FULL Look at your manuals they use sveral terms, sometime they use picture, Zoom or Ratio.
1. UNPLUG power from TV at wall outlet.
2. Turn ON the TV (with no power cable plugged in).
3. Plug power cable back in (at wall outlet)
4. Turn ON TV (don't use remote this time).
you changed all the eprom info but didn`t "save to ram" before un-plugging ac cord, you will have to call a tech and be sure to advise him what you have done so the tech will be sure to bring service manual, info will have to all be re-entered, video-tek
Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).

What video out put you connected between JVC player and TV ? Look at back of your JVC player for Video out (yellow color) pin, hook RCA cable there and plug it to Input-1 or 2 in TV. Now select AV 1 or 2 (what ever you hooked) in TV by remote and hopefully picture will in TV. need further help, let me know model number of your TV.
the 3d effect tells me that your convergence ic's have blowned. standard for these sets.. not to much of a difficult repair. repair them all the time..
When our tv does this,it seems like it's warming up. Sometimes it will eventually come on. Sometimes not. We discovered by accident that turning the floor fan on it (towards the back) helps.I didn't think it was that dusty back there, yet it seems to make a difference.
