CCFL = Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. (Bulb)
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses; but on a MUCH smaller scale.
Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little thicker than 1/16th of an Inch.
Or about the width of this capital -> O <-
Average length is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.
Just like it's larger 'cousins', it has Mercury in it. A POISON.
They break VERY easily, and have Mercury inside.
I usually suggest changing the LCD screen itself, to replace a Backlight.
If you are talking about price of LCD screen compared to a CCFL bulb.
There is NO price for a human life.

Go to the top left corner, and click on the small square icon -

The Zoom In icon ( + ) at the Top, increases the view size when you click on it.

The plastic frame in front of the LCD screen is the Display Bezel.
I may be wrong, but I believe the Display Bezel can be removed, WITHOUT having to remove the entire Display Assembly from the laptop.
Makes life a lot easier.
There is a Philips head screw in the Bottom/Left corner, and a Philips head screw in the Bottom/Right corner, to remove from the Display Bezel.
They are under Screw Covers. The Screw Covers are made of synthetic rubber, or plastic. They are held in place by a type of rubber cement.
I take a computer pick, and gently pry up at the base of the Screw Cover.
If you are careful you should be able to reuse the Screw Covers.
If they do not stick anymore, apply a TINY dab of rubber cement to them, with a toothpick.
The Display Bezel has TABS going around the exterior perimeter of it's inside edges.
These snap into matching LATCHES on the Display Cover.
There also may be some sticky tape, at the bottom/inside edge of the Display Bezel. Means CAREFULLY pry the bottom edge of the Display Bezel when removing.
The best method, of removal of the Display Bezel that I have found, is to flex it.
It is made of space-age plastic, and is pretty tough stuff.
(Of course there are those, who could destroy a steel ball bearing with a rubber mallet, in a sandbox)
I cut a piece of thick construction paper, to just fit the inside edges of the Display Bezel.
Display Assembly laid as far back as possible, the thick piece of construction paper will stay in place.
It is used to prevent scratching of the LCD screen, from your fingernails.
Come to the Inside edge (LCD screen side), of the right/middle side of the Display Bezel. Sliding a fingertip of one hand under the bezel to lift up slightly.
Can't get in? Move over a little. You are at a Tab/Latch.
With one fingertip under the bezel, slide another fingertip under from your other hand. By now a Tab/Latch should have released.
Sounds like you're breaking something.
Keeping the bezel slightly up, move along with the fingertips of one hand, and move towards the Top.
Go along the Top popping Tabs/Latches loose.
Then come down the Left side.
As you reach the bottom ease up on one side a little, and wait for the tape to start releasing. Then ease along the bottom until all the tape releases, and the Display Bezel pops off.
Once the Display Bezel is removed, then disconnect the small cable that comes from the Video Cable (Display Cable - HP), TO the screen Inverter board. (Left side of screen Inverter)
(screen Inverter is mounted behind the Display Bezel, and at the bottom of the Screen Frame.
The Screen Frame is the thin metal frame which surrounds the LCD screen assembly)
[The LCD screen is an assembly of layers. The layers are held in the factory set position by the Screen Frame]
Disconnect the small cable that goes TO the screen Inverter, on the Right side of the screen Inverter.
Remove the screen Inverter, and lay aside.
Remove the Philips head screw at EACH top corner. Holds the Screen Frame TO the Display Cover.
Tilt the top of the LCD screen towards you, remove the clear adhesive tape over the Video Cable connector on the back of the LCD screen.
(DO NOT remove the tape all the way. Just carefully peel it back far enough, so that you can get to the Video cable connector, at the back of the LCD screen. This way you should be able to reuse the tape)
Disconnect the Video Cable (Display Cable) from the back of the LCD screen.
Remove JUST the screws which hold the Hinge Brackets TO the Screen Frame.
The Screen Frame can be taken apart. Of course you will need to do this, BUT ONLY after removing the LCD screen assembly.
THREE screws on each side for the Hinge Brackets.
