You should also replace the capacitor , pt # 5304464438 , which plugs into the overload / relay . The overload / relay , just plugs onto the side of the compressor , with 2 or 3 wires , going to it . This is easily replaceable .

When we shut the fridge door a loud continuous humming noise comes from the fridge. This seems to be activated by the door light switch at the top. Thank you

There are 2 possibilities I can think of for the hum. When you activate that door switch it activates 2 fans and the compressor. There is one fan located on the compressor and one located in the vent system in the fridge. The second fan is used to circulate cool air evenly through the fridge. I would recommend holding your finger on the door switch and listen carefully whether the noise is coming from inside the back of the fridge or from the lower bottom. Lower bottom could indicate compressor cooling fan or compressor. They would need to be inspected. If it sounds more like the other fan mentioned above it would again need to be inspected. The compressor cooling fans can get stuck or become noisy due to bearing failure. The vent fan can get stuck or noisy but also in some cases if the defrost circuit is not working can chock up with ice and create a buzzing noise as the fan blades strike the ice.

GE Performance Profile TFX25PPBB Freezer Defrosting

you may have a fault you may not. if the fridge is ok then the freezer is going through an automatic cycle. If the freezer is not working then the fridge will soon follow.
likely faults causing this are; thermistors; worn out compressor motor; degassed compressor/receiver (can become hot and sluggish if lost gas/lubricant mix; dirt around the fan maybe causing it to be sluggish too. make sure you unplug it before touching anything!

Refridgerator makes a clicking noise like a set of contacts trying to open and close. what might that be.

If the fridge is not working properly it's probably the starter relay trying to start the compressor. It's a small electrical part on or near the compressor around at the back behind the cardboard cover. It's cheap and you can replace it yourself. If it's not the problem but it can't start the compressor then you need a tech to look at the compressor.

If the unit is cooling the noise could be from the electronic control which could be on the back in some models and in fridge with the controls in others. A noise from the control usually means it's going bad.

My kim29473 integrated fridge freezer is not cooling after I defrosted it. An intermittent noise from the back comes and goes as if its trying to work. What do you think the problem may be ?

Around back behind the cardboard cover is a compressor with a starter/overload relay. If the noise is coming from that it could be a bad relay or the compressor is low on freon or gone bad.

Clicking noise and fridge/freezer not cold

Hello, This problem is going to be as you suspected the relay. This part is fairly cheap around $30 if you are going to do the fix yourself. The relay is mounted to the side of the compressor. I would change both the overload and relay because of the burning smell you had. If you have an appliance tech in to look at it I would say it's going to cost some where in the region of $150-$200. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!! Mike

The water coming out of the water dispenser in our GE Profile PSC25PSWA fridge is hot--hot enough to take a bath in. We don't know why the water is suddenly not being cooled and think this is causing...

Is this a new fridge that was recently installed? Because the only thing I can think of that could be causing hot water coming out of the water dispenser is either the installer/tech hooked up the fridge water inlet line to a hot water line somewhere.

Either that, or there is so much extra plastic water line running around in back and/or bottom of the fridge, that the water in the line is getting heated up by being in contact with the condensor coils or the compressor, etc.

No doubt, this is an interesting situation and some more background will likely be needed to get to the source of the problem, especially since you didn't mention any problems with cooling in the fridge or freezer.

Hope this was Very Helpful and let us know some more info, if my basic hunches aren't the problem. Best regards!

Refridge leaking water inside it...

The condensate drain begins inside the freezer compartment behind the back panel and at the bottom of the evaporator coils. Every time the refrigerator defrost (about 3 times a day) the water needs to flow out the bottom of that pan in the freezer and into a plastic drain pipe to the bottom of the refrigerator into a pan on top of the compressor or side of compressor. Sometimes the drain is blocked inside freezer and there is a buildup of ice. But sometimes it is blocked near the opening that leads out of the fresh food compartment and then down to compressor tray/pan. If the blockage is near that exit then you will see a trail of water running down the back of the fresh food compartment and settle in bottom. The only solution is to slowly and carefully remove the drain pipe from the back and inside of refrigerator and clean it out. Let me know how you are doing on this and I will be here to help,Thanks Sea Breeze

Acrid smoke emanating from the refrigerator

Check and see if the smell is coming from the bottom back of the frig by the compressor, this models start device on the compressor has been known too do that.

Not cooling after smoke damage

Assuming that the motor is running, my best guess would be that the condenser (a large grid of thin piping) was covered in soot, and should be THOUROUGHLY cleaned, preferably with compressed air.... The condenser will either be underneath the unit, behind a small panel in the front bottom of the unit, or at the back behind a cover at the bottom of the fridge which runs the whoile width. Make sure the fan at the back near the compressor is also running....if the condenser fan is not running when the compressor is running, it won't cool. If the condenser is excessively dirty, it won't cool!
