I have no idea how to insert the bobbin, to set it up for sewing. The manuel is pretty blank and doesn't give you any instruction .... from what I can see I am doing it all correctly but I still can't get it to work properly.

I can't even find the slot to put the thread through for the bobbin

  • Anonymous Sep 28, 2008

What do I do after puttng thread to the back? The needle does not catch it in this position. It appears that something else must happen first.

Bobbin in your left hand with the thread leading off from the top, pop the bobbin in, put the thread in the slot on the bobbin case and pull to the back,

Hand wheel doesn't turning, the bobbin case is blocked

You have what is called a thread lock. Turning hand wheel backwards and may release it if not remove bobbin case from shuttle, release shuttle arms, pull off race cover and remove thread then re assemble, problem should be solved. You may refer to you instruction book as it will explain the procedure.

Bobbin thread keeps breaking

Bobbin thread breaks
1. There is a right way & wrong way to insert the bobbin in the case --when you insert the bobbin in if it doesn't stitch correctly turn the bobbin over see if that helps or bobbin case is not inserted correctly
2. Lint has collected in the bobbin holder
3. The bobbin is damaged & doesn't turn smoothly
4. Lower thread tension is two tight

if you don't have a manual, here is a link for a free manual

My bobbin tension thread is bunching up and not sewing right, top stitch is fine? I've moved the tension control number each way and this does not help at all. I've tried different bobbins also? Help!! ...

Recheck your bobbin and make sure it's in the bobbin case correctly. There may be arrow diagram on face plate or bobbin case. You can also check owner's manual to make sure bobbin is inserted the right way. If it isn't, the bobbin thread can "whiplash" causing the bunching you've describe. If you have smooth stitches on top, your top threading is all right. I hope this helps. If it does, please let Fixya know by rating my solution.

I have lost the manual and i dont remember how to thread a bobbin. Pleas help me and thank you!

Juki TL-98Q
Loading the bobbin into the bobbin case:
Snap in the bobbin case latch, and put the bobbin into the bobbin case so that the bobbin runs clockwise.
Passing the thread through the **** of the bobbin case, continue passing it under the thread tension spring, and pull out the thread open end about 10 cm from the bobbin case.
Insert the bobbin case fully into the hook, and close the bobbin case latch.
You can obtain a copy of the manual in pdf format for free at:

Threading up a bobbin in a singer 560 sewing machine

I'm guessing it's probably the same as mine (8280). This is what the manual says: "Hold the bobbin case with one hand, insert the bobbin so that the thread runs in a clockwise direction. Pull the thread through the **** and under the finger. Hold the bobbin case by the hinged latch and insert into the shuttle." It's hard to describe, but if you've sewn before, it should come back quickly. To be more specific, hold the bobbin case in your left hand, insert the bobbin so the thread is coming up from underneath, pull thread through the **** and into the part where the hole is. If you slide the thread around, it will fit into the slot in there. Pull the latch out and insert it into the shuttle.

Hope this helps.

I have a Bernina 530 Record and i'm trying to but

You would be best to download an instruction manual for your machine as it explains clearly, with diagrams how to thread and insert the bobbin. You probably wont find the 530 manual however download a copy for Bernina 530-2 or 532-2 as they are almost identical to the 530.
