Question about Maytag MMV5000 Microwave Oven
Touchpad will not recognize touches. Tried unplugging, waiting 10 min, and re-applying power. still doesn't work. lcd illuminates and says to touch clock to begin, but nothing happens when the pad is pressed.

You can replace the touch pad. Call Sears or any parts supplier and give them the model number and they can sell you the part. It cost me around $95CDN. There are about 3 screws to take off the plastic grill at the top and about 1 screw at the top of the touch pad to take it off. Then you need to take the electronics out from inside the touch pad and put them into the new one. A repair man will charge you about $100 more in labour. A new microwave/stove hood costs around $600 so well worth the repair.
