Do you see the red glow in the bottom of the oven go away after you shut it off? if the flame stay on but the ignitor shuts off the you have a bad gas valve. if it stays on then i would assume your control board is not operating properly and would need replaced.

Stove and oven not working

IF ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE
1. Check the fuse in your mains electric box, something may have triggered it to shut off, If off, switch on, if it doesn't stay on, you may have water/moisture in the electrtics (wait a few days, see if it has evaporated, try to switch on again).
2. Most electric ovens have a seperate fuse/switch in the kitchen normally at counter level, check to see switch is on, and fuse is working, sometimes indicated by a red light. You may need to change the fuse in the wall - MAKE SURE THE MAINS ELECTRIC IS TURNED OFF BEFORE DOING SO, BEST TO CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
3. If using a smaller electric oven, i.e. a baby belling, it may come with a plug to connect to the mains, check the fuse.
4. Check for signs of damage in the cable leading to the mains, Best to turn the mains switch off for the cooker before doing so.

IF gas check you have a supply of gas running to the cooker, i.e. at the gas meter/pipe feed if on.

IF none of these work contact your gas / electic supplier for further advice, as dealing with mains electric / gas supplies can be very dangerous.

If you turn oven on, the igniter doesnt work, and sometimes igniter will work once but still won't light oven - we have to now press igniter button to get it to light. Gas does come out. I have cleane

And your point...kidding...i guess your igniter switch isn't sending a signal,or thermocouple is bad.Does it shut off and on while baking etc.if it does thermocouple is ok.Igniter end by flame may need cleaned, try that, but carefully, don't want to damage it.small brass brush, won't make sparks, not a good thing when your head is in an oven, don't use a lighter to see either, flashlight is fine.Just shut the gas to stove off, that will relieve the pressure in gas line .the shut off is usually to the side or behind stove..turn handle sideways to pipe,in line with pipe is the on position..If all this doesn't work, you probably need to replace the sending unit that sends signal to igniter..Or have a repairman do it.check up other sites on computer also about problem, that way you'll have an idea whats going,so repairman dosen't rip you off.

Turning on oven blows fuse

Would need more information. Model and serial would help. Try setting the switch to cook and the thermostat to off and leave the door open then try turning the power on. That set up eliminates motor and main gas solenoid valve. Shutting the door turns the motor on. Turning the thermostat on energises the gas valve. It's a case of at what stage does the fuse blow.

Oven cuts itout when it gets hot but the power comes back on after it has cooled

as it is when your oven runs normally it usually does an on and off type of running in which the ignitor lights the flame from the gas which stays on until the oven tempreture sensor tells the control board that the oven is hot enough at which time it shuts off the gas until the oven starts to go maybe 10-15 degrees below the tempreture at which time it would let the gas go through the line again and turn on the ignitor try checking your ignitor usually if you stick an amp meter on them should be drawing 3.3 amps plz remember to shut off the gas from the gas shut of valve in the rear of the machine before measureing for the amps hope this helps

Had to loosen the lock -- loose enough that the door opened. Only thing that worked. Of course then door wouldn't shut! Cut off the lock and will have to replace.

Why does the Oven take so long to light?

It sounds like it might be a sticking gas control valve for the oven or the hot surface igniter for the oven might be weak. You will need to turn the oven on and off completely several times until the problem happens. When I say completely I mean turn on the oven control and watch the igniter start to glow. Then when the oven burner comes on(should within a minute) shut of the oven control and wait for the igniter to stop glowing completely and burner to shut off completely. Then repeat the process again. If you try it about 10 times and nothing happens then the problem will be difiicult to identify. If you turn on the oven control and the igniter comes on but the gas burner does not then try giving the gas control valve(located in brolier/storage compartment) a tap with a wrench. If the burner suddenly comes on then the control valve was sticking. Try repeating the shut down/turn on process again. If it does not do it again you may have fixed the problem...if it does you will need to remove the igniter and test it with an ohm meter(should read at least 500 to 800 ohms). If the igniter is testing good and glowing brightly then the gas control valve would be the suspected problem. And remeber to be very careful when doing these testing procedures so you do not hurt yourself.

The stove is clicking. i shut the power off and it stopped. it is a gas stovetop and electric oven. there are 2 ovens.

Under each gas control is a switch that will turn on the spark module when rotated to the light position. One or more of these switches has failed. on some models these switches are individually replaceable, others, the switch is an assembly of all four.
