I have a Kenmore Elite Electric Slide in model 790.4671 that is 5 years old. The entire cooktop will not work. The oven, clock etc. are working fine. I have no error codes, beeps or anything, used it...

You should probably pull the entire unit out of its spot in amongst the cabinets and remove the back cover. Check for burned or broken wires and connectors. Also, there will be wiring diagram on that rear panel that illustrates how the various parts of the oven and cooktop are wired. Check that diagram to see if there are any fused links or other "over-current" protective device built into the circuit. If there are, identify them and check them for continuity (confirm that they are still viable and have not opened or "tripped"). Finally, look at the diagram and determine what wires supply power to the cooktop controls. My guess is that one of these wires has some how been compromised and needs to be repaired or replaced. Make sure that the unit is unplugged when you are inspecting and testing the various portions of the electrical system. You will need a volt-ohm meter to check for continuity and, once you've made repairs to check for voltage at different points in the stove's electrical system. Most electric stove/cooktops are 220 Volts. If you are not comfortable and familiar with troubleshooting electrical appliances you may want to farm this project out to someone who is. There is always risk of injury or death when working on electrical equipment without proper knowledge, safeguards and equipment. Good luck and please be careful. Hope this helps.

Electric range surface elements not working after self clean cycle.

It sounds like it is broken. You can bypass it by connecting the 2 wires together. This should be fine until you replace it. They aren't that expensive.

Unplug the oven wait 10 minutes plug back in . Cooktop AND Oven working ? Yes - you have a communication problem - display board or main PCB.
Is the oven not working and the cooktop still works ? If yes it is a power problem on L1 or L2 , to verify if the issue is in the oven or the home swap L1 and L2 on the power cord. (if you do not know what you are doing then you should not touch them). If the Error remains yet the cooktop stops working or the cooktop stops and the oven starts working etc. Replace the Circuit breaker in your house panel - it works but not correctly. No Difference check the L1 line and the transformer connector on the oven board - resolder the connectors for the transformer.
