Upright freezer not working

You may need freon, or your compressor has died. Either way you need a service guy. Sears has their own service people. It may be under warranty.

Sorry to read about your problem. you can have many different problems.

Here are some areas to troubleshoot
1. Bad temp control
2. Failing compressor
3. Defective start cap
4. Defective overload protector
5. Defective control board

What should the inside temperature be on an upright freezer? Is setting 4 or 5 correct?

check the freezer back wall @ bottom if frosted up 1-bad heater (a-glass tube heater or cow rod. 2-bad times 3-bad defrost senor 4- bad fan motor

change the rubber washers on the compressor should work a treat...

If all fans are running, but not compressor You could try to install 3 N 1 start kit, thats might help 50/50. If it will start compressor - be ready for compressor to go out soon. might work for a year.

Is the compressor running the whole time? If so may have a problem with a refridgerant leak....check the compressor in the rear of unit, feel if its hot....may be as simple as a relay.

Yes you need to replace it,if dont will have bigger problems.

disconnect from mains. take cover off compressor electrics. check starting device - easy to replace
