This is a model that uses either the STK-392-110 OR STK-392-150----BOTH are the same part but the 150 chip lasts longer.

Most of the time the "kits" are a waste of money--unless something unusual has happened you will just need a pair of the chips and maybe one resistor.

There are several resistors around them that can fail if a chip shorts. The kits average 40-80 dollars but you can buy a pair of the 150 chips on EBAY for about 13 dollars plus shipping.

Let me know if you have specific questions or need advice--I am here to help.

How do i fix red and green color alignment on a sony kp-43770 tv

Model number does not sound quite correct but if a convergence problem both chips the set uses will have to be replaced and the set adjusted with the Sony remote.

Confirm actual model number and Google it with "parts" to see what it uses. Most convergence chips will have the actual STK number right on the front of them and almost all Sony sets use two chips.

I have a Zenith approximately 8 years old. The color is not aligned and the convergence/alignment feature on the remote control seems to do nothing. Can a service tech do an in home alignment?

Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

No - Inside your TV you have two or three convergence chips, and a small set of resistors. After many years - around 5-7 - these chips will go out. Think of these like tires - they just wear out. The only way to fix the set is to replace the chips and possibly some resistors. Call in a shop or do it yourself with a repair kit from Tv Repair Kits.

This is a common problem. Its called a convergence failure.

Symptoms:
  • Screen Looks 3D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted
  • TV shutdown - does not display video

The red color is not aligned anymore on my Toshiba

This model uses two of the STK-392-110 convergence IC chips.

Both of them need to be located and replaced--along with any of the several 1.8 ohm protect resistors around them that are bad.

The hard part in this model is getting at the chips--I can tell you what is involved if you or someone you know can do the repair.

Considering that total parts cost if you buy the chips on Ebay (I can tell you the best seller there) will be under 15 dollars plus shipping, if you can do this you can save the set and a LOT of money.

Most shops are going to get 300 or more for this repair.

Let me know if you HAVE QUESTIONS or need more information--I am here to help people.

this is the conversion chip and vertical deflection chip that need to be replaced
service mode will only make the color alignment worse since the conversion chip is failing so it won't align properly
it will need that repair
