Question about Garden

Open Question

I need a schematic for a 5.5HP Tecumseh. I had a small engine repair shop tell me they wanted 200 bucks to fix my govenor on my Craftsman Snow Blower. I decided to fix it myself but there were some parts that fell out when I removed the cover and now I'm not sure where they go now.

SOURCE: tecumseh 8hp HIGH REVING! snowblower

Hi,

be careful, if the engine over revs it may just explode. These engines are very picky if over sped and easily blow up.
Your problem may be a broken throttle control rod, have look at that first. If the control rods are fine and in place it could be the fly wheel governor is worn out.

My 12 years old Craftsman snow blower suddenly died after hearing a bang. Start pull is stuck. Electric start runs, but doesn't seem to be engaged. Thank you for the help in advance!

I suspect the engine is locked. What is the oil level and condition. You can further investigate by removing the starter housing and try to rotate the flywheel. You can remove the cylinder head to inspect if the piston is moving. I suspect the engine will need to be replaced. The original engine is no longer manufactured by Tecumseh (out of business). You may want to replace the snow blower. This is of coarse a worst case senario

How do I rebuild a 7 hp Tecumseh motor

Don't bother. If you go to your local small motor' repair shop or the local dump/ waste recycle center you will find lots of old lawn mowers or in your case snow blowers that have been discarded for reasons other than the engines. The Tecumseh engine is usually the last thing still in very good shape and you can get it for a very low price. By mistake I left one out side all winter under snow and rain, it started first pull in the spring.

The primer button on my snow blower won't force gas into the engine

The primer bulb may need replacing as they do crack with age and will not work. A small engine shop should fix you up .

Craftsman 32" 10 hp

3600+/- 20rpm. That's the top end, I'd say idle should be between 1200 and 1500, but I don't know what model motor it is. I'm assuming its a Tecumseh snow king engine

Need new air filter for a tecumseh shredder chipper 10 hp

You can look up the air filter with the model number and order it over the internet from a website such as partstree.com, but there are others. Or, you can get the model number and go to your local small engine repair and parts shop. Mine had it on the shelf. If your chipper/shredder is like my 8 HP Craftsman with a Tecumseh engine, then as you are looking at the engine, look on the left side of the shroud or cover and way down low on the curved portion is a label with the model number on it.

I hope this is helpful for you.

I have a Yard Machine chipper shredder with a tecumseh motor with the 3 way feeding system ... I need the gas tank for this machine ... any idea where to find one?

If you have the same 8 HP Tecumseh engine that I do then if you look at the the engine, squat down so that you are looking at the recoil starter, then look for a label on the left side of the shroud (cover) down low and you should find the model number of the engine. Record that number and send it to me so I can check it. After I check it I will tell you what website to go to in order to order it or how to get the part number so your local small engine repair shop can order it for you. You can also just take the engine model number to the local small engine repair shop and tell them what you want to order and they should be able to get it for you.

If you go directly to the local shop, I hope you get it going soon.

I had to repair pull cord, in doing so I took the throttle linkage carborator linkages off to get to the pull rope housing. I need schematics to show all the throttle control springs wire hook up to get...

go to sears.com and look up the actual engine number. they have a section for lawn and garden and in there there is a link to their parts lookup and they are very detailed. but you will need a pulse tach to set the govenor back to where it was and if it spun the govenor open too far due to the govenor not being hooked up, it could have came apart inside the motor and you will need to take it to a shop. as far as setting the govenor once you get it all back together, you need to push the throtle wide open and turn the govenor shaft in the same direction then tighten it down. yeah its not hard if you have done it before but if you havent and cant understand what i just said, save your time, and engine and have a shop fix it. and i havent seen a motor in my 9+ years that you had to remove all of that to fix a recoil rope.

I have a tecumseh 7 horse (Snow King) motor that has a blown head gasket. Model number is HSK 70. Where do I find a part number to order replacement gasket?

That does not sound like a complete Tecumseh model number.
You have several options... Your first and probably best option would be your local small engine repair shop. They may even have the parts in stock, if not in stock will likely have it in a few days. Or you can look online at places like outdoordistributors.
No matter where you get the part from you will need a complete model and spec and maybe a serial number ( off of the motor itself). Also be aware that since Tecumseh went out of business a few years ago that certain parts are becoming increasingly hard to find.
