I just bought a used frigidaire professional series side by side fridge and it seems to be running more then normal. Any guesses what could be wrong. We have cleaned the condensor and everything. The guy we bought from said that it sat for a year unused. I wondered if the freon or whatever it uses may need to be recharged but i could use some pointers on that, if that is what needs done. thanks
we have it set at 1 F for the freezer and 38 F for the fridge and they stay at those temps. What temperatures are you getting in the freezer compartment and the refrigerator? The refrigerant circuit is a sealed system and not for beginners. If it's got a leak, you don't have the equipment required to make the repairs. It could also be the defrost system is at fault, and the temperatures requested above will give indication of whether that is the problem. What temperatures are you getting in the freezer compartment and the refrigerator? 1) Are the temperature readings you give measured with a thermometer, or just the temperature settings you set the freezer and refrigerator for? 2) Ice cream "stays frozen, but not hard", I'm not quite sure I understand you point. Ice cream will usually stay solid enough in a refrigerator/freezer to be easily dip able. Frozen hard is not normally good as you can't dip it. Please confirm what yu are wanting.

Hi the best is to refer to your booklet or operational manual. However if it has been misplaced, open your door and you will see a button indicated TEMPERATURE CONTROL. when you depressed this button, corresponding temperature LED will illuminate say one for fair.two LED ,three LED and so if all LED are on that is too cold
Hello Glenda - If the unit is not cooling in either section of the appliance, you are experiencing some form of sealed system issue. This can include the compressor not working correctly, the evaporator fan not turning, or even coolant in the lines not at the correct levels to properly cool. If the compressor is running, humming, or even a little warm then that is typically normal. However if the compressor is running hot, then it is over working and the issue could be before the compressor in the evaporate fan, coil or coolant lines. Unless the unit is displaying an error code, often alpha-numeric, then you would need to contact your manufacturer and then a professional to move forward accurately
Check the seal all the way around the door (s). If there is any place that is not sealing you may see a trace of moister there. Bad seal means it has to run allot to keep up. I hope it is a simple fix like this. You may need to just make sure that the unit is level ( you can use a glass of water on top for the fridge or a level if you have one) . Also you may need to replace the gasket if it is torn or warped. A gasket won't seal proper if it is at all dirty from something getting spilled on it. Make sure you feel it all the way around for stickiness or grit. I hope this helps.
For a new fridge, need more time to maintain the required temperature of the fridge and mainly the goods in it? So everything seems normal. The time will be reduced day by day since the goods will stay for longer time in and door opening will become less and less.
If you hook up the water to the fridge, that means you connected the water line to the 'Water Inlet Valve' of the machine. There should be a two wire harness connected to the water valve back. Look for that....
But please note following...
Some water valves in fridges are complicated with one harness for water dispenser line valve and another harness for ice maker water line.
Also seeing a disconnected wire harness does not mean it is for the water valve. May be most likely. But be careful sometime there are test wire harness for technicians to get power readings for components.
This fridge may be lacking the chemical called freon, a typical coolant agent used in refrigirators, try to replace the coolant, and then let the fridge run some time. It should be back on cooling as normal...:)
Freezer defrosted everything fan continues to run but will not freeze. Compressor is cycling enough to keep refigerator section cold. 106 Series Kenmore. Turned up thermostat to keep fridge cold and a shorter intermittent compressor cycle run
Be more specific please
does the compressor runs?
does the fridge/freezer have one or two compressors?
This kind of postings must be more specific if not nobody can guess the problem
