Re: fuji fine pix 5000
In all these cases it appears the CCD (image recording circuit) has absorbed tiny amounts of moisture. These circuits are known to have been manufactured improperly. The only solution is replacement of major circuitry. http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/news/articles/story_4719.html Here's a link to some information regarding these problems.

Googled until I found others with same problem with this particiular camera - then researched the proper address to send the camera to for repair - after calling to make sure they would still repair the camera.
I have got an S5000 that I can still view previously taken pictures from the card, but when trying to take pictures the screen and view finder shows a peculiar distorted purple and green picture and any picture taken is just a green blur.
I contacted Fuji and they say they can repair it for £90 (about $120)
but u will get it repaired Free of Charge as Fuji has taken notice as all manufac and i got my S5000 repaired Free from Fuji just call them tell them about BAD CCD it is a known manufac fault in thousands of cameras just call them quick www.fujifilm.com
I'm sorry to tell you, your CCD its death, no human intenvention can fix it, you must replace it, when a CCD fails, it's literally death, you can not fix it, its a very delicated part, and the fail it's some kind of microscopic evaporation or filtration problem, I'm pretty sure that it has no fix. I spend the last year trying to fix mine, but with negative results.
I recently had trouble with the LCD Display coming up with a black screen. So I mailed it to Fuji with a letter explaining the problem. About 3 weeks later I got it back in the mail and it seem to be working fine until a month later. I turned it on and the LCD display show a black screen only now it has white lines. I'm so incredible mad and extremely dissapointed in Fuji. Reading online I have notice many people having trouble with Fuji Products. I WILL NEVER BUY a Fuji again!!!
