Question about X2Gen MG19MY 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My computer monitor will beep and then the Screen Resolution will automatically skew / stretch out. I have had it set for several years at 1440 by 900 pixels, but it changes to somewhere around 1025 by 748 pixels (?). I have rebooted several times and that seems to help but for only for a few minutes. Suggestions?

Make sure that your software, that you view your pictures with, falls into the 'box format' of 640x480, 1024x768, 1280x1024, etc. Background pictures are typically streched to fit the wider screens. You can change that by right clicking on your desktop.. in XP it is the 2nd tab, on the right side, you can choose stretch or ? Some will give you black bars but no skewing. Then you can adjust your monitor's resolution downward to enlarge your pictures, or leave it at a higher resolution if you don't mind the borders. -DellTech1

Stretched screen

For best graphics and zero stretch select the highest resolution that your LCD supports. Which is the resolution of 1440X900

Right click on your desktop and select properties.
Click the Settings tab.
Slide the resolution Bar to the resolution of 1440X900
Also select (Highest 32Bit) colour quality on the right of the resolution bar.
Click Apply then Ok.

If you are not able to select the resolution of 1440X900 then you should update your graphics card drivers to the latest version.

To download the latest drivers for your graphics card click here.
Select the following:
Geforce
Geforce 5 FX Series
Geforce FX 5500
Select your operating System
Select your prefered language

Monitor screen display stretched center but squashed/narrow edges

On the monitor itself, I am guessing this is a desktop? There are buttons for adjustment. Look for the menu button around the bezel of the monitor and press it. Scroll through the settings for the default setting and press that. Once the default settings are made for the monitor, then you can go to the graphics settings available through windows to get the resolution straightened out.

Stretched monitor? I have a 19 inch LG and it looks stretched. Please help.

Hello Rbeaudoin, Hi! the stretch thing is caused due to improper computer configuration, you need to load the VGA device driver for your PC. A properly setup device driver for your VGA will produce a resolution properly for your monitor.
explanation, you see, without the device driver, windows assumes several resolutions, most of the time, this does not match the monitor resolution, so the device driver when loaded, talks to your monitor, and identifies it, then sends the proper resolution info to the VGA and windows, so that windows can create an option for that resolution. using this proper resolution the monitor can display the video properly.

Acer P193W monitor stretched image

What service pack of windows xp are you running? Also, do you have your old monitor, if so, then plug it in and see if the same problem occurs. If not , go under the settings for your graphics card (not windows display options) and see if there can be a correction made to the settings for your monitor. Also, try going to microsoft.com and updating your computer (it's free) and you'll probably get the required driver to fix the problem from them. Check under your control panel and see if you have automatic updates turned on, if so you may want to limit what updates are to be installed by allowing updates but you choose which one's to install. Monitor Problem

This is probably the result of using the wrong display driver. It may even be set for an external monitor. If it was used with an enternal monitor, connect it up to the same one (or something similar) and use the display settings to get the computer to use the LCD as the primary.
