I have a two year old viewsonic TV n3252w it was shut down last night normally during the night it made a popping sound. Now there is no power indicator it will not go on. I've checked the inline fuse and power supply all is good. On one of the components in the circuit board a cylindercal unit appears to show signs of corosion or decomp. any ideas?

This model has a history of power supply problems. Depending on your level of expertise on electronic repair, you can repair the power supply or replace it. The most common repair is to replace the bulging power supply capacitors.

ViewSonic N3252W LCD TV went pop and completely died. No power whatsoever. Not even the red light indicator that is always on as long as its plugged in.

The main power regulator board [SMPS board] has damaged. It should be replaced. Normally there is no repair to these boards. Only card base replacement is done. Check this to know more.

Inspect the power supply module for any bad caps with domed tops first.

The tv is only 4 years old and just stopped working while we were watching it. it is a "52 model number pt-52lcx65-ka.

Hi,
If lamp in tv has not been replaced in last 3-4 years then check lamp and replace it.
Did tv showed lamp replacement requires warning/ message on screen before going to shut down?
Did you hear any pop sound inside tv when it get shut down? that pop sound could be lamp that got broken.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

My viewsonic n3252w made a pop sound then turned itself off, the tv is 3years old now. when i try to turn it on it tries then goes off again, if i unplug it for a while i get a picture then the same things...

Open the monitor, examine the circuit boards. Look for small components that look like small cans, these are capacitors. If you see any that look bulged on top, then your problem can probably be solved by replacing these. Check out the following sites;

My ViewSonic N3252 display is just a black screen in all inputs. Sound works fine but no picture.

As with most LCD screens the two most problems that cause black screen are bad a solderjoint on the inverter board or bulging capcitors, the next problem would be most likely the power mosfets witch break down after time.

Sony KDF-E55A20 Lamp Shut Down with no blinking lights

If you TV is about 2 1/2 yr you probably need a new lamp they only last about 3 yrs. Mine popped one night and now picture comes in for about 1 min and goes out, I ordered a new lamp today they run $199. There is also a know issue with the thermal fuse. The part cost about $3 and if you know a lil about electronic you can replace it yourself
