Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

Once every 2 weeks or so, my Panasonic pqlv30042yam phone seems to hang up the whole system, so I can't get a dial tone or make/receive calls. The phone is part of Shaw Cablesystems, Edmonton, Alberta's combination phone/cable TV/internet service. After several such service interruptions (including being asked to unplug/unhook everything), I was told that it was a defective phone. Has anyone come across this problem?

I have seen this several times as I am a service tech. for a cable company. Cordless phones use an electronic switch to open and close the circuit rather than a manual switch. The handset of a corded phone pushes down the switch to hang up the phone (open the circuit) when you place it on the cradle. A faulty switch in the handset or base can cause the phone to stay off the hook even if the handset is off. In some cases I have seen the phone base cause a short in the phone system as well. The best way for you to troubleshoot this is to wait for it to happen again and simply unplug the phone cord from the phone or wall jack. The phone system should come back on just fine at this time. If it does not come on than check to make sure your modem or MTA did not go offline indicating another problem like signal issues. If your modem is still online and no dial tone is present and you have to power cycle everything because it locked up than this may indicate a short caused by your phone or other bad equipment like the modem/MTA. I only mention your phone as the cause of the short because a technician already has diagnosed this as the cause.

I have a KX-T7130 phone system with intercom. for the last 4 weeks, every phone will ring once and then the call gets hung up before I can answer it. I can use every phone to call out, but just can't...

Most likely NOT your phone system (anonymous)

Neither is it likely accidental...

What it sounds like you are getting is a "ring splash"

It is a token ring to let you know a call was forwarded...

My best suggestion would be to call YOUR OWN
number and find out who has been getting your call...

Or at least what kind of TREATMENT your callers have been getting...

Since this is a GLOBAL SITE... I would suggest you consult
your service PROVIDER.. for the appropriate enable & cancel CALL FORWARDING.

BELL-SYSTEM Codes to invoke and cancel

Codes: *72 and *73: respectively

Forward... *72 = ("star, seven, two")

*72 (wait a second dial tone) dial tone + (forward number)...
If the call is answered the FORWARD is complete...
(confirmation)

Else
Repeat the SAME dialing PROCESS
(OK: indicated by two stutter dial tones followed by dial tone).
((confirmation)).

Cancel FORWARD...
*73: To CANCEL forwarding... *73 = ("star, seven, three")

(again OK... Success is indicated by two stutter dial tones followed by dial tone (yet another confirmation))...

Hope this helps...

Panasonic KX-TCD220E - pulsating busy signal for a few seconds then dial tone

If that pulsating tone is anything like what I sometimes here on my phone, then it has nothing to do with your phone. It's your telephone company telling you that there's unheard voicemail on their system. You'll need to contact your telephone service provider for instructions on how to access their voicemail system.

Call forward will not turn off, have tried *74 & *73 , have rebooted and turned off then on, call divert symbol still on and phone calls still diverted.

To set Unconditional Call Forward ON Dial "*72" for a dial tone. Dial the forwarding number followed by "#". Wait for dial tone. LCD will display "Call FWD Activated"
To Cancel Unconditional Call Forward: dial "*73" and get the dial tone, then hang up. LCD will display "Call FWD Activated

but, since you have tried those two, it could be that there might still be a different type of call forward option that is still ON, on your phone like Busy Call Forward and Delayed Call Forward 1. To Cancel Busy Call Forward: dial "*91". Wait for dial tone. Hang up.
2.To Cancel Delayed Call Forward: Dial "*93" for a dial tone, then hang up.

Let me provide you a link to the website which I used as a reference for your future reference.

How does one forward incomming calls on a uniden 2.4ghz cordless phone?

Cordless phones can not 'forward' a call to an outside line.
Forwarding must be controlled by the ATT, Verizon, or landline provider.
Please contact your provider to determine if you have call forwarding feature built into your service package.

Then, follow the instructions of your landline phone provider.
Here is the instructions for Verizon:

Activating Call Forwarding
You can activate Call Forwarding whenever you want your calls to be sent to another phone, including a mobile phone. Once activated, all your calls will be sent to the forwarding number you request. Each time a call is forwarded, you will hear one short reminder tone on your home phone, but you will not be able to answer the call from your home number.

  1. Lift your telephone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.

  2. Press star.gif7.gif2.gif.
In some areas you must use 7.gif2.gifpound.gif
Dial 1172 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.

  3. When you hear the tone, set or change the Call Forwarding number by dialing the telephone number where you want your calls transferred.
You will hear the number you entered ring. When the number is answered, Call Forwarding is activated.

  4. If the call is not answered or the line is busy, hang up and call the number again within two minutes.
You will hear two short tones telling you that Call Forwarding is activated.

  5. Hang up the receiver.

CHANGE RECORDED MESSAGE

To change the greeting you need to either pick up the phone or press speaker phone then dial *38 then 1 then you will hear a beep/call tone. When you hear that tone record your message/greeting. Once you are finished press the auto dial/store button. If your are satisfied with that message hang up or press speaker phone again to end the call. If you would like to clear the message, then right after you hit auto dial/store you will hear a beep/call tone press 0 to clear or 1 to rerecord.
