We have forgotten our wifi network password. We have a Motorola surboard cable modem but I dont see any wireless router. Is that possible? If so, do we need to reset the modem password? help.

hi,
yes this has built in wireless the thing sticking up in the back is it's antenna.
if you have a machine wired directly to the modem you could then browse it by its IP. usually something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 there is a default ID =admin and password=motorola..see page 12..http://broadband.motorola.com/noflash/customer_docs/user_guides/506705-001.pdf
if you can't get in you would have to use the hard reset feature described page 15

hope this helps

Motorola Surfboard SBG900 will not connect to Playstation Network

You need to give the PS3 its own IPAddress outside of the firewall. You need to configure the router and the PS3.

I don't remember the password for my sbg900 motorola router and i need to connect one of my laptops to the network. How do I get the security key. I read another blog that mentioned pressing the reset...

Disconnect the Coax cable from the modem and restart it. Once the "Receive" light begins flashing reboot your computer. If the modem and the computer are communicating, the computer will get a 192.168.100.11 IP address (192.168.0.x with the SBG900) from the cable modem. Shut down your computer. Connect the Coax cable to the cable modem, restart it, and wait for the modem to sync up with the cable company. Once the modem is in sync (Power, Receive, Send, On-line are all illuminated) restart the computer. Once the computer has restarted check the IP address. The computer should have a valid IP address from the cable company. Computers attached to the SBG900 will always get a private (192.168.0.x) address regardless of whether or not the SBG900 is registered on the cable system.

My new mac mini wants a password to connect to my wireless network (Motorola SBG900)

Hi,

The SSID (network name) and password should be on the wireless router itself, usually underneath the unit.

If its not there, the password will be with documentation you got with the wireless router.

Regards.

Wep key

Try admin for the username and motorola for the password.  The default SSID is Motorola.  Here is the pdf with all of this info.

Are you sure it's a Motorola router and not a Motorolad cable modem? if it's a router, you have to hook up your main computer to the router via an ethernet cable directly, you also need to know the router's IP address meaning something like this, 192.168.1.2 you would enter this into the internet explorer title section of your browser, once you are in there you need to enter in a HEX key, you'll have to find this option within the router's setup options, the HEX key has to be 10 digits, make sure you write this down and save it.
