My windshield wipers will not work on variable speed. Only the fast and slow speeds work and when switched to the variable speed position they stop instantly in middle of the windshield. Replacing the wiper motor did not help at all.

Sounds like the switch is bad. It may not be making connection when switched to intermitent speeds.

2002 Corvette Wipers wont shut off

If the windshield wipers on your 2002 Corvette won't shut off, it could indicate a problem with the wiper control switch or a malfunction in the wiper motor circuit. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the wiper control switch: Ensure that the wiper control switch is in the "Off" position. Sometimes, the switch can get stuck or malfunction, causing the wipers to stay on. Try moving the switch back and forth a few times to see if that resolves the issue.
  2. Inspect the wiper motor relay: The wiper motor relay controls the power supply to the wiper motor. If the relay gets stuck or fails, it can cause the wipers to stay on. Locate the wiper motor relay in the fuse box or relay panel and try replacing it with a known working relay of the same type to see if that resolves the issue.
  3. Check the wiper motor circuit: The wiper motor circuit may have a short or an electrical problem that is keeping the wipers engaged. Inspect the wiring harness connected to the wiper motor for any signs of damage or loose connections. Use a multimeter to check for continuity and proper voltage in the circuit. If you are not familiar with automotive electrical systems, it is advisable to consult a professional technician or a qualified electrician.
  4. Disconnect the battery: As a temporary solution, you can disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery to stop the wipers from running. This will disable other electrical components as well, so it's recommended as a temporary measure until the issue can be properly diagnosed and repaired.

2001 Lincoln Town car ...wipers at times are slow on high and regular speeds and even stop working altogether.Have new battery 12/17 and wiper mot3/18. Battery is 650cca and on third motor in 1.5 years....

Have a qualified repair shop check it out . Electronic module involved , WCM - wiper control module . May have code's stored . You have no clue as to how it works.

The windshield wipers are controlled by the wiper control module and the driver-operated multi-function switch on the steering column, with the ignition switch in RUN or ACC position.
There are four modes of wiper operation: OFF position, the wipers move to and stay in the park position; Interval position, the wiper control module causes the wipers to cycle, separated by pauses, pause time length being determined by switch location; LO position, the wipers will operate at low speed continuously; HI position, the wipers will operate at high speed continuously.
The windshield washers are controlled by pressing inward on the wiper switch end of the multi-function switch. The washers will operate as long as the switch is depressed. If the wipers are in the OFF or Interval operating mode, the wipers will begin in LO speed and the washer pump will pump fluid from the reservoir to the nozzles. When the switch is released, the wipers will complete three cycles and then return to their previous setting. In LO or HI mode, no change in wiper operation will occur during washer operation.
The washer fluid level sensor is in the windshield washer reservoir (17618) and is monitored by the hybrid electronic instrument cluster (HEC) and displays a WASHER message when the fluid level is low. The washer fluid level sensor and windshield washer reservoir are replaced as an assembly.

What would cause the windshield wipers on my recently purchased Jeep Patriot Sport work on every speed except the high speed. High speed doesn't work at all.

The intermittent switch has a bad contact in it for the high speed, i would say, most likely will have to replace it.

Wipers only work on fast. Checked the relay and its good, checked the switches and its good. What else needs to be checked?

This is (obviously) a two-speed motor. The low speed winding is burned out. Replace the motor.

Is there a procedure to check the wiper motor on 1991 S10 pickup (only 42000 miles), to be sure it is defective and not a wiring problem?

ONLY PROCEDURE FOR WIPER MOTOR IS YOU HAVE 2 SPEEDS THAT WORK SLOW AND FAST SPEED.WIPERS WILL RETRACT TO THE BOTTOM OF HOOD LINE WHEN YOU TURN OFF. WIPERS SHOULD TURN OFF. CHECK WIPER RESERVOIR MAKE SURE ITS FULL AND WIPER WASHER SPRAY FLUID CLEAN WINDSHIELD. IF WIPER MOTOR DO ALL THE ABOVE THEN ITS OKAY.IF WIPER MOTOR WORKS SLOW LOOK FOR BINDING AT WIPER ARM LINKAGE AND PIVOT LUBRICATE LINKAGE AND PIVOT COULD HELP.IF WIPER MOTOR DONT WORK CHECK FOR POOR GROUND OR BLOWED FUSE.WIPER WORK AT ONE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH IS BAD.IF WIPER BLADES STOP WHERE EVER THEY ARE OR FAIL TO TURN OFF UNLESS YOU TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH WIPER MOTOR LIMIT SWITCH BROKEN.IF WIPERS DONT RETRACT BELOW BOTTOM HOOD LINE LOOK FOR MECHANICAL OBSTRUCTION OR WIPER MOTOR FAULTY.
