How do I find working XP video card drivers for a Gateway TA7/ Viper-SR laptop/tablet?

are you sure about the driver/chip? You may need to double check - was this an upgrade/ change of OS from a Vista machine? Or could it be direct x? read below.... otherwise I have no idea sorry ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300 csm_ati_radeon_chip_05_e8206cf22f.jpgThe Mobility Radeon HD 2300 graphic card for laptops is the successor of the X1300 and supports only DirectX9 (according the informations of the AMD homepage). The performance shall be somewhat above the X1300 and therefore present average or worse game performance. AMD / ATI tells that the relation of performance/Watt has been improved. A difference to the X2300 are the amplified video options (UVD).

How to improve Windows XP performance in 6 short steps?

Though the computers of today are strong enough to handle and run Windows XP, with all the visual enhancements enabled, some old computers, or systems with low amount of physical memory and/or a "weak" graphic cards could (and would) run more smoothly with those "cosmetic visual enhancements" disabled.

The default setting is to let Windows choose what's best for your computer, but in 90% of the time, "helping" it a little will surely improve your computer performance!

To disable those visual enhancements, all you have to do is follow the following 6 short steps:
  1. Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties.
  2. Go to Advanced tab.
  3. Click Settings, under Performance section.
  4. Choose Adjust for best performance.
  5. If you would like to keep the "Windows XP Style" (as oppose to "Windows Classic" = Windows 98/Windows 2000 style), you will need to re-tick the 2 last options (Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop and Use visual styles on Windows and buttons). This will keep the nice graphical interface and will preserve Windows XP "fancy look".
  6. Click OK on Performance Options window, then click OK once again, to close System Properties.
  • You can always turn the visual enhancements on by repeating steps 1-4 and choosing Let Windows choose what's best for my computer.
  • To make ALL visual enhancements on, choose Adjust for best appearance instead.
Note: Changes take effect immediately, no reboot required.

Another side-issue regarding visual styles is the wallpaper, or Desktop Background.
Having no background (a solid color. Select None in the background's settings under Desktop tab in Display Properties) will demand less resources from the computer and increase response time when showing the Desktop. On the other hand, having a large-size (both in scale and in file size) photo will need more resources (especially memory) to rescale and view/reload it, every time the Desktop is shown.

Display colors on monitor

In windows7 you can go to your device manager and remove and re-install your video drivers.

Also check for flags under that device.

You can get updated drivers for your unit at Gateway

Will the Intel D945GNT motherboard run Windows 64 bit OS, and will I need to change the RAM. At present I have Two Transcend 512 MB DDR2 Mhz modules on it. Please advise. Thanks.

Trying to run W7 64 bit with only 1gb of ram will make the system really slow. I suggest you purchase 4gb of PC5300 (667mhz) of ram which will cost about £30. Your system will then fly compared to what it is doing now.

Hi, I recently purchased a Gateway NV52u laptop, running the Vista 64bit operating system. Recently, I noticed that whenever I play music on Windows Media Player or Pandora, I hear severe static, both...

Yes, you are having driver issues with the applications that are giving you problems. Did you upgrade your media player yourself or automaticly? There is a 64 bit version for vista to install. I expect that the media player is the application hat pandora is riding on top of as well. A suggestion is to remove media player, and download the 64 bit version and install. If you have the 64 bit version now, it might be corrupt or something. Still remove it and get it again. There are services attached to the media player as well that are enhancements such as things for the mixer and equalizer.. these have to be 64 bit compatible as well.. somewhere you have some either corrupted software and enhancements or ones that are not 64 bit capable.. hope that helps you out (look at enhancements first, then pandora, then MSMP)..
    thanks!

Video driver for Dellm770 with Dell Optiplex110 - running Windows98

video si dependent on the video card you have. WIn98 is capable of 32 colors, therfore, you need to get a video card that is capable of giving 32 bit color.
as fa as digiital pic, you need at least 32bit if not 256bit. which win98 will have a hard time to comeup with.

I think it is time to upgrade.
