how do i fix this? can i fix it without having to take it to the at&t store or would i have to??
I bought a samsung black jack but it lost net work when ever i was calling someone. It was replaced with a new one at an at&t store but its now not working, its say phone off, i took to the store but they told me they have no idea how to make it work, so i have to pay $100 to get a new one since my warranty ended.
Well, no. Your sim card must have taken a big jolt to it in order for it not to work. Simple, you need a new one. Got a Sams club near you? They should be able to give you one for free, att corporate stores charge 25.00. But sorry to say you need a new sim.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I think your Samsung Blackjack is locked with some particular network. You need to unlock it to use other networks. To unlock you can approach Theunlockarena.com and specify the country, locked network.Based on the availability you can get the unlcok code along with free instructions.Once unlocked you can swap networks.
First you’ll need to get your Network Control Key. The Network Control Key is a 8 digits unlock code. There are two paths to get your NCK. You can either call AT&T or ask for it. You may have to ask them to put you through to their tech department. If you’ve never signed up for AT&T’s Service they may not give the code because your not a customer. The other way to get the code is to contact a cell phone unlocking service. They usually charge around $20 to get this code for you.
Once you get the Network Control Key power off the phone.
If he used it for the same carrier you are on (ie: sprint, AT&T, verizon, etc..) then it may just be a different format SIM card. Over my past 3 phones, I have had to change sim cards twice. Good thing is, usually the carrier doesn't charge for this. For example, if I took the sim out of my current LG g6, and tried to put it in my old galaxy note 3, it wouldn't work, I would have to get one of the older style SIM cards.
On the other hand, sometimes you won't be able to take a phone from one carrier to another, even if it is unlocked. It all depends on the cellular technology that the phone supports.
Hope this helps.
If It is not on mute and the volume is Turned up all the way!! I had the same problem. What i did was took out the battery and the sims card and unscrewed the 4 little screws and screwed them back in and now it works fine!! if this dont help Contact AT&T
you need to get an unlock code. If you are using a different sim that uses a different network to the one that the phone was made for then you need to get it unlocked to recognise your sim. If your network provider cannot provide you with a code there are plenty of phone repair shops that unlock phones very cheaply.
The only thing I can really think of is that ATT might be going through a transition right now from Edge to 3G.
The other option is to have a new sim card burned for your number. Call ATT, if need be put your sim card in another phone and call them, and have them burn you a new one. Does your sim card work in another persons phone?
Blackjack 2 is a windows mobile device 6 and it might need reflashed (set it back up). If there is no physical damage (you know no water damage, just has a few scratches, take it back to the store. you have 30 days to take it back, upgrade or new, its 30 days
I know this is not a fixya, but the only thing i could think of. try your sim in another device before u do anything
