Pin out for a dell PS-5201-8D2 power supply

Use caution, some older Dell machines used a non standard, proprietary pin-out on the 20 pin connector ALso the 6 pin is suspect. If you connect a regular ATX PSU, you will fry the MoBo. Look here

Presuming you mean the Earthwatts 500:
Should work, though the Earthwatts has the 24 pin ATX instead of the 20-pin.
You just need to snap the 24-pin connector apart to make it work as a 20-pin. It can be snapped back together for future motherboards.

Pinouts power supply for hp d530 ultraslim

Hi lantzgema,
I looked up the specs of your d530 and all I could find out is that you have a 150 power supply, calling HP technical support was no help at all.
I did find some pinouts you can look at and determine which one exactly you have. Hope this help out.
If this is still not what you have there are other pinouts at the same website.

Wat goes where from the power supply

on the newer psu's (power supply units) they are labeled. if they are not there is a basic rule. if it fits the socket without forcing it, use it there. there are many 4 pin plugs on a psu. these are all identical and all are exactly the same. they can be used anywhere a 4 pin connector is needed. newer psu's also have 6 pin, 8 pin and sata plugs. 6 pin and 8 pin are generally for video cards that are pcix sata pugs are for any sata drive, like a dvd or a hard disk. also there is a 24 pin or a 20 + 4 pin connector. this goes to the mother board.

Hello Kathyhudson,

All the cables are connected, the PCI express (6) pin cable is only needed if you have a PCI video card.

A four pin connector is for the motherboard if it requires it.

Need more Watts to run Larger Graphics card & Exhaust Fan

1. Visit this website.
2. In the search field type in: PC Power & Cooling.
3. Press Go.
4. On the left under the, "Manufacturer" menu select, "PC Power & Cooling."
5. Find a Power-supply-unit which will work for you.

One hint, try to find a PSU that has a 20+4 main connector. That way if your motherboard has a 20 pin connector your PSU will be compatible. I highly recommend you buy a non-modular PSU, they are more reliable.

The reason I am having you look at PC Power & Cooling products is because they make the most efficient and reliable single-rail PSUs on the market today. Yes, they're more expensive. However I would rather buy something more expensive than blow up my system with a cheap PSU which will only hold out about a year.

Let me know if I can help you further. (If this solved your problem, please rate the solution.)

I would like to know how to troubleshoot a brand new Ultra LS600 power supply. I would like to go beyond hearing "it's dead" since I am getting power to the motherboard (via indicator light)m but the PSU...

You can start the PSU manually with a paper clip.
Remove the 20 pin connector from the motherboard, leave the four pin power connectors attached to your various drives (this will provide a load on the power supply when it start up (provided it is not faulty).
Look at the 20 pin connector with the connector facing you.and the locking clip to your left.
The fourth pin from the bottom LH corner should be a green colour wire and the next two wires (5th & 6th pin) should be black and next to the locking clip.
Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the 4th pin and into the 5th or 6th pin (ie connect these wires together). These wires connect to the front panel switch to turn on your computer. You are testing the power supply only and since it is not connected to the motherboard the computer won't start.
Now connect the power unit to the mains and switch on the mains, if the power supply is OK the PSU fan should spin up and your hard disk should also spin up. If nothing happens the the PSU is faulty.
You can test the +5volts and +12volts supply on a 4 pin power connector with a multimeter. The red wire is +5volts and the yellow wire is +12volts and the black wires are negative (ground). The voltage readings should be within 5% of these voltages.
There are other voltages to be checked +3volts, -5volts, & -12volts. but these are not as critical.

PSU problem

The total connection is two part if you disconnect 20*pin one part then four part is other part. when you connect 20 pin in mother board .the four pin connect anther port. then the power supply is on.
