Re: Linksys wireless G-ADSL Home gateway

Sometimes this happens. Installing the Linksys software for your router helps a lot. To reset the router. Unplug the power cord from the wireless & unplug all cables to it. There is a reset button on the back side of the wireless. It is very small. Using a pen press & hold for ten seconds or so. Release & connect your cables & than the power cord. Never hurts to restart the pc or notebook. If you still need help you can check out Linksys home page for wireless G routers.
There is a decent ammount of help, a larning center & driver software.

Download the firmware from the Download tab after following the link. You should be able to find user guides and other help for your router there too. Downloading the firmware should allow you to use the router. The CD just contained that info.

Pls help before i change user name andpassward admin to new passwed fix but me forgit

To reset the Linksys back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of therouter with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to beconfigured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in allthe laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wirelesssettings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wirelessrouter.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

My wireless is going on and off, what's the problem?

Frequent wireless disconnection can be caused by different factors such as:

• Wireless interference within the network
• Wireless settings of the Linksys ADSL gateway are still set to default
• Firmware is corrupted
NOTE: Before going through the steps in this article, check if your wireless computers have stable connection when connected to other wireless networks (hotspots).
To resolve intermittent wireless connection, you need to perform the following steps:

i. Reducing Wireless Interference
ii. Customizing Wireless Settings of the ADSL Gateway

Linksys WAG200G doesn't have a green light with the internet.

Try unplugging the WAG200 ADSL Home Gateway, leave it off for a minute, then plug it back in. Sounds too simple, but it works more than half the time.

Internet access problem with a Linksys 54g router

Try setting the default gateway on the laptop to the ip address of your ICS gateway machine. Some routers separate the wireless and LAN connections on different subnets.

Try comparing your laptops ip information with that of one of the working wired computers. You can do this by going to Start up to run and type cmd then click "ok"

At the black prompt screen type "ipconfig" without the "".

You want to compare the IP Address, Submet Mask, and Default Gateway.

If one has an ip of 192.168.1.* and the other has 192.168.0.* then the wireless and wired are on seperate networks.

If the subnet masks are something like and they are on seperate subnets. Both should be fixable by putting in the same default gateway.

For example if your ICS gateway is then set that as the default gatway on the wireless laptop. This can be done by going to start >> Control Panel >> Network Connections then right click your wireless connection and goto properties then double click on the "Internet Protocol (tcp/ip)" option. This will list all of your ip information (if its static) if its dynamic (ip gotten from router) you can still click "Use the following DNS server address" and set preffered dns to the gateway ICS ip. Or click "Advanced" and click Add under Default Gateways and add the gateway ICS ip there.

Diana, The router has lost its IP address from the ADSL gateway. Unplug the router from the wall for about a minute or two. Plug it back in..? If that doesn't work you need to login to your router and check the settings. or(there is a small reset button on the back of the router. Hold it in for 10 seconds the router will reset.) If possible turn your computers off while resetting the connection. Some inter Microsoft networks will issue its own IP if it doesn't detect one. Good Luck, Tim
